Traveling by plane with a Detector

I'm planning on flying down to Florida this Feb for a week and planning on taking my Excalibur 1000. Does anyone have any advise to pass along on getting your detector through the airport and the baggage area? I'm wondering what the best way to pack it. I'd like to put it in my carry-on but I don't think it'll fit.

I usually just stuff clothes around in order to keep mine safe.... however I have always been able to have it in my carry on bag

Never had a problem just carrying mine on and stowing in the over-head space. On two occasions, to keep it from getting banged around by suitcases, the stews. stowed it in the cockpit. HH jim tn

I just spoke with American Airlines and the TSA - both said mine would have to go in checked baggage. Now I'm afraid to take it in case of theft!

If I know someone where I'm traveling to, then I send it to their address before going so I don't have to deal with all the crap when flying... Cliff  :wiggle:

I have traveled and brought it on with my carry-on.
