Took the V relic hunting today

Jason in TN

New member
Been cold here and been a while since I could get out. Tried this spot before with the V and had no luck.
Went back today to try to hunt with V running in all metal. Problem was that the area has electric cattle fences
That would drive you crazy. Well in all metal I could still hear them but not near as bad and i was getting some serious
depth. Dug one three ringer at 12in and a J hook and about the same depth. If you have not tried hunting in all metal
for relics give it a shot. I had almost given up on this area with the V not any more I will be back there soon. Still working
on getting every thing set just right for my area but so far I like it.

Good report Jason. What about mixed mode? Rob

Tried the mixed mode but in the area I am hunting but the electric fences drive it crazy. The AM mode seems to work
best here. I would try it if you have not for relic hunting in fairly clean areas you will not find any thing that will get deeper
on the V3.

Are you using a similar program to what I sent you on how I was setting the V3 up in all metal? It'll make a man go "hmmmm" wont it? LOL. Especially if you've been using the factory preset programs. BTW..I am sending you a PM too.

Could you relic guys try something for me? Give the Salt mode a try in a bad EMI zone and report how it works for you. One of my favorite modes with the DFX was Correlate and it really made the DFX run quiet, even cranked all of the way up. Although Salt mode is not exactly the same, I think it will have a similar effect on EMI. With the settings the same, Salt will lose some depth over Best Data, but you can usually crank up the Gain and Sensitivity to compensate for the loss, resulting in the same or a little better depth and a lot quieter. My initial field testing on the V showed promise for the Salt mode, but I didn't spend a lot of time on it.

Will give it a try. I have tried every thing around these super hot cattle fences. Only way I have found to run the V is in all metal here then the 7.5 freq seems to be the best.
I have tried the Correlate and even adjusted the span on it but still get way to much noise. I have had no trouble with power line type interference just the electric cattle fences. They send strong DC pulses through wires that circle the whole field.

Think I will be spending some more time playing with the all metal. I am getting bullets at the same depth or deeper than with my F75 running in all metal and the V gives me better all metal ID for sure.
