Too Many People Lurk In This Forum & Don't Post!

I think many are new to detecting or even the Sovereign and are reading all they can as I was once told you learn a lot more by having your ears open and you mouth closed. I feel many like to read and learn than post something and get jumped on by someone with a different opinion.

I read the XTerra forum because I have one. I read this, and the "Beach-shallow Water" forum because of an interest in buying an Excalibur II. I don't post because I really don't have anything to contribute. I've only had my Xterra a year and although proficient with it don't feel as qualified to offer advise as others. Any questions I've had about anything so far, have already been asked and answered by others.

Also, I can't count the posts I've read in all sorts of forums where one will ask something and because the question has been asked and asked again told to do a search. If I have something I can't find an answer to something I will certainly ask. As for offering advise, that's not my place yet.

Ok I don't quite understand what the big deal is. We are here to share information with each other freely. Freely meaning without judgement or expectations of others. I think if you have expectations about anything you are in for disappointment in one form or another. Passing judgement on others in the form of calling someone a "Lurker", might offend some people and turn them off to our community here, and potentially loose what they have to say in the future. I know some people are shy, but the more they read and become comfortable not being judged but supported by this community the greater the chances of them sharing something useful later on. So I say let people be how they will be and keep posting without worrying about everybody else and what they are or are not doing. HH.

What the last two posts said..... ya dat....

But I'm sure looking for a Sovereign and or Excal - can't post a wtb yet, and haven't figured out how to pm someone yet either -but I'm in the market for one or both - used is fine with me; otherwise I wouldn't be looking for pennies with an MD. I have a lot to learn. When my father in law died, I got his MD; the more I play with it, the more fun I have. But the more I read, the more I want a Sovereign and Excal - used to be a ham radio operator, and what I learned there, applies here. I'm hard of hearing, but machine noises make sense to me for some odd reason; maybe because machines made me ears ring to some extent.

I have to say, this is a great forum, and the information I need is here. I haven't even started to see some of the things here, but from what I have seen, I will be here a lot, and for a long time to come. At the right time, I may have my two pull tabs to add.

A lot of people do not post probably due to the season. Beach hunting is really slow on my beaches. We have not had any good days of cuts or erosion of any kind. Very few are swimming and the popular beaches have been detected to death. Maybe less lurkers this summer? If you have nothing to report on a hunt then you would not post. That is my world.
