Too Many People Lurk In This Forum & Don't Post!

I noticed that in 40 minutes 16 people had already read the post about the new Minelab Pinpointer. That's a lot of people in such a short period of time. I've said this before but there is something about the Sovereign that seems to attract low key people who keep a low profile. Maybe it's the unassuming impression of the Sovereign with dials and switches and no flashy computer screen. Those people who are attracted to that kind of flash and glitz have already moved on to machines with a computer screen. Meanwhile the Sovereign users quietly fire up their machines and continue to pull good finds out of beaten to death parks. They know flash doesn't equal finds, and that the Sovereign gets as deep as it gets and will find the good stuff with it's raw power. A simple machine with a low key appearance that gets results. I just wish people would speak up and post here and there and maybe show off a few finds.

Critter - I think everyone is waiting to see just how overpriced their pinpointer will be. Then I think you'll see plenty of posts. I'm guessing a few hundred bucks...but I hope I'm wrong.

Critter it's all over, all forums...Lurkers everywhere..So if you don't want anyone to know..............

I'm not a lurker, I'm a sponge gathering knowledge that you guys are putting out there..... I have a sov arriving next week and have read every post on the 50+ pages on this topic......

I have nothing to say useful yet but I appreciate all your posts...... As soon as it arrives I will bombard you all w/ questions......

I can't believe you read just about all the posts in this forum! Ouch....I've been making an effort to post shorter messages lately but I've posted some monsters in the past.

See what I mean...119 views of this thread and only a few messages. Too many laid back Sovereign owners. :goodnight:

I did the same thing. Over the course of a 2-3 months I didn't read every post, but read the title of every post and read the ones that I felt would help answer the many questions I had. There IS something very intriguing and appealing about the Sov. detectors in this age of "digital". I think it also intimidates people alot because of so many posts about how difficult it can be to learn how to use the Sov. I bought one anyway and will soon discover for myself how difficult or not it is. Toggle switches and knobs aren't foreign to me though coming from years of using a couple of Tesoros. But the Sov. does have more of them:lol:!

Wow, more power to you for reading that many Sovereign threads. You're right, there IS something very intriguing about the Sovereign. I always was curious about them having read the reported depths and the ability of Iron Mask to unmask coins in iron. After reading messages on those two topics over the years I finally decided to try one. Deepest machine I've ever owned in my soil, which tends to be mineralized at many of my sites. Even my Explorers didn't go as deep, and I've owned three of those. I also like how much more stable the ID is at depth.

It's a simple, turn on and go machine, that gives you extreme depth without the fuss or worry that you haven't set this or that computer control up properly. Just the same, the Sovereign may look analog and have analog controls but it is a digital machine.

202 views of this thread and only a few lurkers have come out of the wood work to say hello. I'm telling you, the Sovereign attracts people who like to keep a low profile.

Bought a 2A-Pro w/ 8" coil a couple of weeks ago and got to hunt with it for a couple of hours today......Found these two hiding in the iron patch. The little 8" really did a good job of separating the trash. The park I hunted today was used as a dump site for the old courthouse that burned in 1877. The iron is really bad in most of the small park. Got to do some changing up on shafts and find a larger coil to go along with "shorty". I think it will be a nice additional to the pack.....

Welcome, and nice job finding those coins in iron. Only 2 weeks into your Sovereign and you managed to find those coins in iron? Good job. If you are going to buy a larger coil I'm an advocate of the SEF 12x10 from KellyCo. Deepest coil I've used on the Sovereign and it has excellent seperation. It can be tricky to find the 12x10 for the Sovereign on KellyCo but trust me it's there if you look on the right page.

Guess I'm a lurker here. Love my GT, just not lately (because I haven't been able to get out and use it). I just don't want to post to post, I need to have something significant to say/ask. Most of my questions have been answered by searching, I don't want to post redundant questions. Great machine and great forum. If I have anything to contribute, I will! Just can't think of anything.

Hi Critterhunter, Good to see you back on the forum as I have said before I don't type to much but love reading other post. I got four summers now with the GT and its a great unit, you helped me modify my GT a few years back and its sure made a difference. Here`s a post i did a few months back on some of the things i found with the GT that you may like to read. Shannon

That's probably the main reason I don't post, I'm a noob with the GT. I have only had it since October, so I'm super noob. Still hunting in disc iron mask and probably will be for a while until I get comfortable enough to move to all metal. I had to use pinpoint today. I say had to because I can usually x it out to two scoops or so in the wet. I was at about five or six scoops when I switched to pinpoint. Gonna use it more often, was out with the next scoop. Was trash target, but they're all part of the class curriculum!

I love the confidence that the Sovereign gives me - the confidence that it's not missing anything under the coil with its multifrequency operation. I had the 10in (or is it 8in?) Tornado coil that came with it. Then I upgraded and got me a 15in WOT (through Findmall). Then yesterday the David and Goliath of the Sovereign coils arrived in my office - again bought through Findmall. Thanks Silverman!

Check out the size of this 18in Excelerator coil (and the baby 5in one). CD in the pic for size comparison.

Can't wait for the weekend :)

Cheers
Snoopy

Ok, I'm not a lurker, I just tend to sneak around without knowing that I'm doing that.... it scares people evidently; just being me, and they thinks me lurking. Looking into the Excalibur and the Sovereign - Right now I land hunt, but water calls my name - and it's humid here often enough, close to rivers, that I probably need something that can tolerate high humidity. So, I'm learning everything I can about the two machines. I have hearing problems to begin with, was a welder; rock n'rolling didn't help either. Due to the hearing problem, I'm considering the Sovereign as then I can have individual control in the headset. Due to the rivers, me thinks the Excalibur is the better first choice. Flipping coins won't help me any either, as whatever the coin says, I will decide against, or just keep flipping til I decide.

But yeah, the posts here are great, and the information is melting my brain; it's a lot to soak up, but I'm working at it. Thanks everyone for the good information - you make the learning curve shorter - maybe steeper, maybe not, but shorter.

Yes I'm more of a lurker lately, mainly due to my internet connection being down at home. Thanks to all the posters. I hunted a little while with the GT yesterday [using darkflamedesigns method] at a park near one of the old camps on the Chihuahua Trail that was active in the 1850's. Many wagon trains were actively trading then between the Texas coast and Chihuahua City. They had to deal with Apaches and Comanches, etc. and lack of water holes. They would bring a load of freight from the coast to Chihuahua and then bring back silver [bullion and pesos] from the mines at Santa Eulalia. I don't have permission to hunt right at the old water hole and haven't found much in that area. Lately have been thinking of adding a water detector, probably the Infinium, since I also prospect some. Appreciate all your thoughts. James
