Too hot

annamariaslim, are you hunting land or sand?. Where I reside it definitely gets hot and "muggy" humid during the day in the summer months. If in fact, some nights ever actually cool down all that much. I had a hunting buddy, (RIP, Chris) as we were both retired we began a routine hunting early mornings, about 6:30a to 10:30a or so. Oh, we gave the night hunting endeavor a couple weeks shot, but after explaining to policemen 3 or 4 times what we were doing and one gang related close call, we put night hunting on a "last resort" back burner and went back to early morning hunting. And crime around is far, far, worse today then it was back then.

It appears you've been around detecting for a while and ultimately know your situation better then I do, so I'll just say good luck and be careful. HH jim tn

Used to night hunt, thinking fewer interruptions. Got license to carry and started 'packing' due to the few/stray/hoodlums' like, and too curious "lookers on". No serious issues...but, don't do either anymore. Mostly due to age.

On the sand, early morning might work too. Turtle season so red lens is necessary.
Gotcha! Sand and turtle season is good reason to night hunt with a light. For turf hunting, I got in the habit of hunting early mornings once retired to beat some of our summer heat and before most of the riff raff are out and about. Good luck! HH jim tn
