Toltec 100

pulltaber said:
Toltec 100 is one of my favorite Tesoro of all time,10 tern GB ,notch and a accurate meter.they make a hip mount for it but may be hard to find one.
I do not know why Tesoro went with a single turn gb and no notch on the Toltec 2,then put the notch back on the Cortés and made gb only work in all metal:rage:

PS
I wish I could get my old Toltec 100 back I loaned it to a friend he passed away, and his family does not have a clue what happened to it

What is the difference in a 10 and a single turn ground balance? I know how to manual ground balance as I've owned the Vaquero and a Fisher Cz70. I found the Cz easier to ground balance.

10 turn or 10 to one ,means you have to turn the gb have 10 times to get one full turn on the board or to go from one end of the gb to the other end of the gb range so you can fine tune it more than a single turn.
The Vaquero has a 3.75 to 0ne so you have to turn it 3.75 times to go from one end of the gb to the other end of the gb range.
a single turn may gb faster than a 10 turn or a 3 .75 turn but it may not be as aceret

Anyone have any stories about using the 100? Like deep coin finds and such. Around here most old coins are in the 5-6" range with a few found at 7-8 with Etracs. You fine folks think the Toltec would be good on coins at 5-6"? Hopefully the ID doesnt drop off too bad at depth. Thanks

Should be able to handle 5-6" coins. If you hunt parks, schools, and public in general you won't find much silver under 6"...... Focus on nickels as a lot of guys don't chase the nickels so there's still a few shallow laying around.......

I mostly hunt in the woods. Be it by campgrounds or along rivers...fishing areas and such. The park we have has been pounded by a group of guys since the early 70's so its hard to get anything out of there. Even wheaties are a welcomed treat.

Hey Dark,

The Toltec 100 is a pure analog metal detector, to get the best performance you have to know how to tune it. When you get it in your hands, if you need some tuning tips, I can help you with that. With that said, mine can get down to 8" on a dime easy with my 9" coil.

I appreciate that Randy. Ive owned a few detectors with a manual ground balance but from the sounds of it the Toltec is a different animal.
