WTG. Probably that ring is just gonna be an encouragement to let you know the better stuff's on the way. I have found about 20 rings so far, but don't post them until they're golden. One of them was so beautiful that my wife wears it-if it was real, I'd payed for another detector!

Nice ring, Ron. Hope to find my first one soon. Nice pile of clad, also. I'm expert at finding pennies and once in a while a dime, nickel or quarter.

What notch did it hit on? My guess is silver but possibly white gold. Nice find!

Should be marked if it's one of the two but with a lot of rings coming out of third world countries it's hard to tell anymore but a ring is a ring.

You'll find one sooner or later. They are hard to come by unless one hunts where they are most often lost.

the weight of the ring can sometimes lead you to a good guess as to what it is....if it is light then it could be aluminium or aluminium coated with something. If silver looking, but it shows signs "peeling" or "rusting" type oxidation, then it is probably silver coated over copper or iron. You can find rings that are silver but not marked with any grading of purity, but they are rare in my experience. Even if it's not solid silver or gold, it is still a good find, and can give you the "feel" for jewellery, and the drive to get out there and get more. HH:happy:

I've found some beautiful and expensive silver rings. Gave one to my favorite sister-in-law for her birthday and she was thrilled to death. It was an amethyst in a silver, filigree, antique mounting and was gorgeous. Being familiar with rings and their worth she said it was worth a bunch and wanted to know if I really wanted to part with it.. So all gold doesn't always guarantee top dollar. I have a 50th anniversary ring that is silver banded with a gold chain all the way around.
