Found new deep cut and started with coins and earing then the cross and more change and then one that appears to be an earring. The cross does not have any markings on it and believe it or not did not register on MD found laying on top of sand while moving over area. Two more detectors both Excals and they hardly got reading when we layed it down for them to check. I cannot find any markings at all on either side. This is a much better day than most lately as it has been very sandy here for a while.

Are you saying the Excal could barely hear the cross in all metal also? My Excal II in all metal can hear a very small piece of foil or a tiny washer off of blue jeans. and gold earring backings are no problem. Gene

Yes Gene there were two of them, thier and they had to tune thier machine to hear anything knowing it was on the ground in front of them. I have a White 300 ID and it was literally nothing and I pull tones from very small objects every time out I have picked up individual beads from like a key chain in the ground and pulled them out of the dirt to verify what the tone was before. I really thought this thing was plastic to begin with.

Well I would assume it is a very low grade metal or cast. any real gold cross I have ever found sounded off real nice. Is it heavy like gold or kind of light? Gene

It is heavy but not really heavy. I will take to jeweler and let them test.
