The key to success is to work through a new detector yourself and not rely on random people on the internet. Granted, not everything he highlights is incorrect (a broken clock is right twice a day), but run the tests yourself that are worth running and see if you get different results. The only thing bigger than his draw is his ego, he puts in time so people like you can place him on a pedestal and feed that hungry ego of his. He goes into tests with an endstate in mind and structures the tests to get a result he is looking for. But hey, if it works for you then that is all that matters.

A detectorist will learn more getting off the bench and spending that first 50-100 hours digging all those iffy and weird signals to see what the machine is doing. That will give you more detector knowledge than watching contrived bench testing. Both those Shillbillys aren't in the hobby for detecting, they are in it for bench testing to feed their egos.

Good point and exactly that , DO YOU OWN TESTING , and you will discover that either much of what you see is bunk or you will realize that somebody really doesn't know how to run the machines they claim to be competent with.

I like watching all the videos some more than others, when I got in detecting I couldn't wait to get my monthly treasure magazine. Or past magazines just to see what's out there, but hands is a must , but with all the technology now days lol with updates, screen displays and Navigation on how to set them, lot of information to learn , more than I had on beep machines , I don't mind them at, some are great and some are not, but that's me. HHHANK

I agree . I learn a lot from watching their videos and a few others . What each setting does etc . I also see calabash and sharpshooter doing live digs in some of their videos. Just like super freak , mental minds gigmaster etc . I think that they do help in showing what a detector might be capable or not capable of doing . Weaknesses they might have or problems that need to be fixed . You are also absolutely right that you have to put in the time to test and to get out onto your hunting sites to see what the detector is really capable of in your neck of the woods . It takes a lot of time and work to shoot and edit videos . And wether they are making money or not for making the videos is not my concern . The only thing that I don’t understand is that they get picked on a lot and yet some of these other people that are making the same videos and testing detectors don’t get slammed as much or not at all . And like some of you folks are saying , they probably are setting up the the detectors to make them look good or look bad or they don’t know how to set them up . And that happens with all the metal detector utubers . Just my 2 cents and I buy detectors because I enjoy this great hobby and I enjoy the new challenges that the new technology brings , in having to learn that new detector . People are so uptight or wound up about he said that or they said this etc . Never in my wife’s and I 30 something years of detecting have we ever seen these detecting sites with all this bashing or complaining or crying that is going on today . Come on folks , it’s a hobby . I would rather read TNSS's posts than watch his videos. They are usually informative. At first he was criticized for not providing videos. Now he is being criticized for his videos. It seems he just can't win. At least he is somewhat humble, unlike CD. Most YouTubers have an agenda; to make money and/or become famous. My wife is a recently retired high school teacher. She says quite a few kids think that they will support themselves through life by posting on YouTube.

The REAL problem with Beavis and Butthead is that they are shills for detector companies. NO WAY to believe their "tests". Proven that they can AND do skew the "tests" to achieve the results they want to make you believe. Only way to see what a particular detector will do is by running it yourself. I presently run a Legend and Equinox 800; both are excellent machines.

100% Correct , The "So Called" expert that spend more time doing Y tube Test are all a Joke. and "Self Claim "Experts in there own mind. You need spent Easly over 50 plus HOURS HUNTING IN THE FEILD IN LIVE CONDTION before give true Fact Basic option on any Detectors you use!!! .
