The ACE is a good beginners machine !.

I'm very new to metal detecting with my Ace 250. So far the best thing that i have done was get me a Pro-Pointer.
Beg, borrow or steal the cash for one. (Maybe get your Dad to give you a 10 year loan on one!) You wont regret it. Other than that, the best I can tell you is to get out there and swing away, you'll learn through experience.

My dad has a pro pointer (he lets me use it) and he wouldnt give me the money for one anyhow!

Ok I will use BIG WORDS AND TALK SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here are some tips other have said, Good luck and don't show your Dad up to bad:thumbup:

Tape the coil cable straight up the lower rod. That way you can run sensitivity much higher without falsing.

Hunt in the Relic or All Metal Mode. If you start notching out more you will easily loose 2 inches of depth.

If you get a weak signal try to swing the coil faster over the target. That improves target ID and depth.

If the target just jumps in the coin range, it is a deep coin most of the time. If it jumps all over the ID range it is trash

For general hunting, keep the SENS at between 4-6 and don
