any idea who the guy with the dragon on his head is, it looks like it may have been a pin to me, its the size of a quarter made of brass

The helmet looks more Greek than Roman but i can't find any references to either cultures mentioning dragons. Most dragon myths are based in Camelot era England and also China.

My guess would be a depiction of St George, the patron saint of the British Isles. He is known as the "Dragon Slayer".

I know that Alexander the Great was depicted with a lion's main on his head on many coins after he killed a lion. :shrug:
 
I should have dug deeper than I did. I was focusing on the face and helmet and didn't take into account what adorned it. Thanks Copperhead! Generalizing may be a hindrance to understanding.

this is the closest image that i could find matching your pin. this is a gold stater from the classical greek era. kudos to Art. at least i was close with identifying the helmet. certainly a nice find:thumbup:
