Time For Another One Of Those "Crawl Out Of The Woodwork" Posts To Introduce Yourself

My name is Scott. I live in Central Florida and I'm about one hour from the beach.

I mostly hunt land right now and I'm thinking about getting back into beach hunting soon. But the beaches here get hit really hard already.

As far as what I do for a living, most people would hate me if I said, so I won't.

Besides, what I like about this hobby is that people really don't care what what your job is.

It's all about how well you hunt and what you find!

Let me guess then...Dentist, politician, IRS agent, parking meter enforcer, lawyer, media talking head with an obvious bias... Just throwing some ideas out there. If I hit one PM me and I promise I won't spread it around.

G'day my Name is Greg and live in Sunny Queensland in Australia, have been interested in Detecting since the early 80's but only just got around to buying on my first 4 months ago is the Whites MXT Pro all pretty standard and two weeks ago the Excalibur 11 with Hip mount 3 piece
Pluggers shaft, have only been out for about 4 hours, and looking intensely for that elusive gold. I figure I get the best of both world and will take the Whites to the Gold fields and dry sand and the Excal for the water / wet sand hunting.

The amount of Info on this site is fantastic and you guys really know your stuff ,

Happy hunting to all..

im new here also, my name is larry and i am from nj, ocean county, actually the jersey shore, ok start the jokes, i use the sov xs and rons meter just started using the meter today and loved it, now to find old places to hunt until i get the new coil for shallow water hunting on the beach

OK, I'll chime in... I'm in Panama City Beach Florida, live about 5 minutes from the beach so 90% of my hunting happens on the beach. I've got about 400 hours swinging my ACE 250 (the MD that started it all for me), about 60 hours on the Surf PI (not a DF) and now I have an olllllllld used Sovereign Elite which I have about 40 hours on that I picked up from a huntin' buddy here. It came with the rechargeable battery pack, the AA pack, a 10" Tornado and a 5" Excelerator "S" coil. I belong to www.lostmystuff.net as a volunteer and my other 2 machines both have "Success Stories" but the Sovereign has yet to get the call out to find anything...but it's day will come too!

Imust say that I have really come to respect the capabilities of the Sov in the short time I have had it.

Mike

Just give that Elite it's due time. It's not the most user friendly at first, but darn if it won't amaze you with it's depth and ability to pull coins out of junk. The biggest piece of advice is don't give up. That machine is like an old Shelby 2 seater Cobra. It might not be the most "easy" machine to drive in, but it's got the power where it counts. Again, don't give up! The rewards are greater than you can imagine.

Not to worry, I don't discourage... easily or at all! I have really fallen in love with this ol' machine. I've done pretty well with it already, now I just gotta get it above some jewelry!! :detecting:

Hi Mike. I also belong to the Lost My Stuff Group. I've found several rings and other jewelry for people in my area (Northern Virginia) and really enjoy doing it. Keep up the good work.

I made it sound like I was talking about the Elite specifically. Nope, I was talking about any Sovereign. They are all pretty much the same machine from what everybody says and get about equal depth, although some feel the GT is a tad deeper and more sensitive to small stuff than prior models. One unit is said to have a appetite for hot rocks. Just meant when talking about a 2 seat Cobra I wasn't singe ling out any machine. Talking Sovereign in general. It's got raw power but without the cup holders and seat warmers.

OH, I got ya! Well, who needs cup holders and seat warmers anyway? It is a monster deep seeking machine I am learning for sure! Love that ol' Sovereign!!

Rob from Port Chester, NY. USMC 1982-1986 0352. I recently joined The Nor 'Easters metal detecting club from Stamford, CT. I was introduced to metal detecting back in the '60's by my twin brother (yep I'm a twin) who built a Heathkit that got one or two inches of depth, but was really cool. My first real one was a Wilson-Neuman USIKA Chief. I then bought a Fisher 1260X, but joined the Marines a few months later and found a new hobby (Scuba diving). After I got out four years later, I guess I just forgot about metal detecting - got married - had kids - blah blah blah. A couple years ago, after reading some treasure mag, I got fired up and bought a Teknetics Delta and loved it (still do). I found a real cheap Minelab XS2-Pro on FeeBay and bought it only to resell at a profit. I fell in love with it when the first target I found was a 1909 Barber dime - so I kept it. I really loved the sounds it made (still do). Then, since most of my time had been spent in parks, I bought an Etrac which I also love. I find myself on Findmall every day and always seem to learn something new from the members who DO post. Thanks guys and Happy~Healthy~Hunting!
