tigershark/stingray 2 differences?

How much difference is there between the Stingray 2 and the newer Tigershark? I recently traded for the Stingray, and so far am impressed with it. I've not had it to the water yet, just land hunting, but it has me wondering. My last water machine was a Surfmaster 2 & this machine is definitely easier for me to use. Any info will be appreciated.

I had been using the Stingray II for 2 years when the Tiger Shark came out and bought one to compare the two. Used the Tiger Shark for 65 hours in the field and did head to head comparisons (air tests) with my Stingray II.
In the air tests, the Tiger Shark was a half to one inch deeper on COINS in the all metal mode BUT, in the disc mode, the Stingray was one half to two inches deeper.
The Stingray was more sensitive to gold, one half to three inches deeper, on all gold jewelry tested (14k med. ladie's ring, 14k med. chain, 14k small crucifix, 22k gold coin) in both all metal and disc modes.
In the field, the Stingray is much smoother operating in the all metal mode, quieter and less erratic in the disc mode and pinpointing is far easier.
The Tiger Shark was noisy and even though it SOUNDED like it might be more sensitive it was just bad about falsing. Pinpointing with the Tiger was a nightmare. As one other user described it, the Tiger was like a "bucking bronco"...all over the place.
Both have the problem of falsing when water is splashed on the coil-to-box connector but Tesoro doesn't know what causes it or how to fix it.
I have never used the TR mode on the SR II and never used either of them in salt water/sand.
I sold the Tiger. I would advise you to hang on to what you've got.

Hi Blake,
It's good to hear you like the Stingray. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas this year, and find lots of goodies. Sometime you're heading around Siler City, let me know. I want to check out that MXT. (I'm thinking about getting one down the road)

I have the same problem with falsing when my coil to box connector either goes in or comes out of the water. I have tried several fixes, but the only one that works worth a darn is to take some foam pipe wrap, cut it about an inch long and then tap it around the connector. It seems to sheild it from the splash and it eliminated the falsing

Hi Clark,
Someone suggested using Playdough to seal the connector but the suggestion came after the water got too cold for me to try it. If I still have my Stingray II this spring (getting rid of all my other Tesoro machines and coils and maybe the SR II also) I'll give the playdough a try and your suggestion too.
Thanks...See ya',
Jack

Why might I ask are you getting rid of all your gear? Going to another brand?
