Tiger Shark

Hi,
for many years i am using Tesoro detectors and i love them.
However i would like to buy a waterdetector also to hunt on the salt beach and freh water, how does the Tiger Shark performs on the salt beach???? or do i need to buy another brand for the salt beach (will NOT buy a Minelab because they are TOO HEAVY)
Thanks!!!

The tigershark is in my opinion unbeatable in fresh water, in the salt water and wet sand of the west coast beaches it was very tempermental and could only run in salt mode and discrimination, but it was usable. In Florida it ran fine for me in most modes except all metal where it falsed quite a bit. If you are going to hunt primarily salt water I'd recommend trying the Sand Shark from Tesoro, its a PI machine and built for just that purpose. Never tried one myself but I'd sure like to someday.
Hope that helped.

Thanks,
do not like PI detectors, will use it in freh water but also on salt water.
When i use the salt mode will it not be nervous??? and is the performanse the same as in fresh water?? (mean still sensitive or hot on fine gold rings like in fresh water)

i've only used it in salt a few times but i found even on the beaches of B.C. it ran fine in salt mode and discrimination once you got the sens set right. I only had to back the sensitivity off slightly to get it to run this way. It seemed to run fine and just as deep on small items, certainly on the beach in Florida I managed a nice little band with emeralds and diamonds in it. If you don't care for PI and are going to hunt mostly salt I've heard wonderful things about the Fisher cz20. You should check on a surf and sand forum where beachhunters can really advise you.

I just sold my TIGER SHARK, great unit for freshwater, found loads of coins rings and jewelry, liked small silver and gold. Once I had the sensitivity set, it was just a matter of a fast ground balance and go hunt.
Never had the chance to try it in salt.
Also sold my Fisher 1280x that was tuned up at the factory, older White coil unit. It was just as good as the TS.
Just purchased two Detectorpro Headhunter Divers, they are supposed to be as good or better than the TS and 1280x in freshwater. We'll see.....
If your hunting saltwater, appears to be a tie between the Fisher CZ20 and the Minelab Excalibur. The Fisher will run forever, the EX. is cumbersome, heavy and seem to need factory repair service constantly. You can swing the CZ20 faster than the EX.
If your hunting strictly in the salt water , a PI is the way to go. From what I have read....if buying in the $700 or less range these detectors in this order will beat ANY of the VLF detectors in depth:
Headhunter PI, Tesoro, White's, Garrett. Visit the PI forum for more info.
Definitly visit the Beach forum.
