Thoughts on new ATp:clap:

Hi all received the AT a couple days ago. Got it unboxed with anticipation and was like WOW its big! Compared to the last machine I had, this is a tank... but it feels very durable and sturdy. I tested it in the test garden and it sticks the numbers purty good. I think the G2 stuck them a little better . The depth of the ATp was about an inch deeper then the G2 :) The ground is highly mineralized around these parts it balances in the 90s on this machine. also i used silicone grease on the orings to make sure I get a good seal. I get to take it out for a good long hunt on Saturday with 2 other ATp swingers and cant wait...Im definitely putting a smaller coil on my to do list...

You won't be sorry you purchased a pro I've had my since they came out and enjoyed it's very minutes of use I. Own three detectors and the pro is my one to go to. Good luck and keep on swinging:clap:

Ok guys and gals just got back from an all day hunt. I was with 2 other ATp guys we had a good time, hit 3 schools. I pulled around 4$ in clad a hat pin and a lil bling no silver no gold. I wont bore yall with pictures. I ran in prozero mode. I noticed a few things about the AT on junk targets it was scratchy and choppy I like that! The G2 would make everything sound good and the vdi would hit solid numbers on almost everything, the AT hit solid numbers on only good stuff it seemed, I like that! The iron audio was great I only dug one bottle cap and that was because I forgot to hit the iron audio button. I only found three nickels that kind of worried me, I didn't hit too many mid tone targets, the nickels I did find hit solid numbers. Maybe it just wasn't a mid tone kind of day. My other buddy found quite a few nickels he said. The weight of the machine..... I have an old shoulder injury and it was tough at the end of 7hours I found myself hurting purty good I even started swinging left handed so yeah didn't like that much. A smaller coil will solve that im sure. But anyhoot so far I think its great machine and am happy with her!!

The 5x8 DD coil is dynamite. Lot lighter too. You get one, bet your buddies will follow. The Pro is a killer nickel machine. Like any other machine, give yourself a thousand targets. Then you will know. Don't forget being waterproof is huge also.

If you do not have the 5x8 DD coil, please get it. Once you put it on, you will never take it off. Best coil Garrett ever made for the AT line, IMHO.

I really like my ATP and have used it a lot - deepest coins I dug so far were clad quarters one at 8" & the other was at 9.5" - reason was fill dirt had been brought in a few years back and had completely settled with grass growing. I have the 5"x8" coil and have not use it yet - just might put it on for my next hunt. You will get better the more you use it and learn it's language & numbers. Wish you great finds with your New ATP.

Love my 5 x 8 coil and I've found coins as deep as 12 inches....yes, seriously.
And, yes, I agree...the lighter weight is so nice, a big difference.

I always take my ATP with me as a go to or back up machine. Deepest coin I have dug is a clad quarter at 9.5" and we have mild mineralized soil in my area. Also my ATP does not like fluorescence lighting in parks or ball fields. Good luck with your ATP and wish you many great finds dirt fishing.

I purchased a 2 coil package and never had the stock coil on my detector. I seen the 5x8 coil on another detector and was sold on it. Schools are fun. Wish they watered more here. Its like chipping away at rock. I always worry Im gonna damage the target.

Thanks for all the comments, i ended up with a NEL sharpshooter. Ive used this coil on multiple machines and loved it. It works great on Atp just like expected, still a little heavy though. ive been out in quite a few hunts with the Atp now and like this machine, havnt got any gold yet but have scored silver :)
