i have an infinium ls and i read this forum to glean as much information about it's abnormalities as i can to make it work at it's max.hardly anyone says anything about it.so to me that means two things the machine is perfect and has no faults,or there is very few people that have one and don't want others to know that they bought a lemon.flack time maybe?blowfly

Best Waterproof PI Detector with changeable coils, Auto Setup and Ground Balancing ability Garrett have made available to the public.

Everyone's out hunting...

Do a search in all the forums and for all dates. I just tried it again and got over 230 pages of stuff relating to Infinium. Granted some of it is just talk but there are some informative conversations by some knowledgeable Infinium owners there. Several of them helped me out recently. You will find what you need to get you started.

Hope that helps.

Hi Blowfly1967.
There are quite a few posts re the Infinium if you look around a bit.
Look for Infinium posts by Adrian SS, Ivanll, Fishers Ghost or even jackinthebox , if still in existance, or just do a search for Infinium Posts.

I do agree tho that there are not many infinium users putting up posts on any of the Aussie forums and every time I say anything about this detector I get shouted down by the ML operators, so I have not posted about the INf for a while now.

Thanks Ivanll.
Right now I cannot afford to go to go to Yass let-alone the gold coast.
I will be flogging of some of my tectors via Ebay shortly. Not the Inf of course.

hey ivanll, don't spread the good news about our nice little area to all those southeners.there is enough here now.don't mind anybody visiting here,as long as they leave their hobbies at home, heh, heh.:clapping:blowfly

I didn't realize that disposable AA batts. are 1.5v. and the Garrett supllied racks have 1.2v., I cant help but think that charging 9.6v. (series of 8 x 1.2) with a 12v. charger isn't mathematically correct. Garrett told me they hadn't thought of that. My Baby (Inf.) wont get past 2 beeps on start up with re-chargeables at all. I dont think there is a solution on the factory racks until they use 1.5v. ones. It's said the LS runs actually at 7ish v. but using Alkaline, zincs, etc. I get good full power for a long day (maybe into next day some) with threshold bout 4 and I dont even use the factory rack . Wonder how many Infiniums are returned from this lack of User & Makers knowledge of this. They were going to look into it after I phoned them, haven't recd. the return call yet . My Infinium Is My deep seeking Baby - It's not going anywhere but put to use. Not sure if I have it Super-tuned but it works good if you stay Focused.
Infin. & Lobo work for me like GP & GB2 do for others

Almost as good as my Garrett Recon Pro Military spec mine sweeper; an Infinium on steroids. All digital, digital led readout, telescoping rod, etc.

Oh; and motionless detection(No more back n forth.) Built in pinpointer(Also motionless.)Freq scans digital in 30 secs, grnd bal in under 30secs, all automatic. Salt/sand/sea mode. I can walk from dry sand, to wet sand, to right into the surf, and she's still dead quiet.

I am still waiting to see if the rumor is true about an Infinium II from Garrett. A pinpoint function on the Infinium would be a dream come true!

Yes Ken - Like the new 8 mono I just received from Garrett! It has the exact same false as the one I sent back to them. I am going to sell this Infinium and never look back. I find it completely outrageous Garrett can't get this right! The coil wire on this new 8 mono gives the same false when the coil wire is flexed near the control box. I belt mount the box so this is a huge problem. Yep! I got one for sale!

Ray , this would seem like one way they could do the Pinpoint , on the ML they have a switch to run 1 side of a DD i think calling it psuedo mono which I am told used mostly for pinpointing not Hunting mode (Pic - compliments of ivanll , if o.k.) but, how to accomplish a PP mode while hunting with our 11 x 14's ?

Ken~Digr

I have my new 8 mono now. That 10x14DD can make a body dig lots more. I'm wondering how Garrett got so much depth with that Recon. Looks like the Recon has an 8 inch coil. Seems it must have exceptional depth for detecting IED and other bombs. The first thing we would have to do is mod the shaft a bit on that one. Would love the buried coil wire feature on a Finny. I hunted some ground last evening with the 8 that I had been over with the 10x14 DD and was surprised with the small shallow stuff I found that the big coil missed. A boot tack just under the surface about an inch, a .177 cal pellet (lead) a 22 cal. shell casing (2) and a tiny needle like piece of metal - and I mean tiny. I had hunted the old road very carefully with the big coil thinking I had found it all. A good lesson for me and everyone - the 10x14DD will leave the small and shallow stuff in the ground and for depth - I have not seen a great difference between the two coils except on the beach. The 8 PPs pretty good. The Finny with 8 gets more stuff than the big deep coil. Love my new set-up on my straight shaft with box mount extension! 52 inches long shaft worked perfect for me! Happy Digging!

Ray - that's cause the 14" DD is Not the big Deep Coil , the 11 x 14" mono is the Deepest coil. But the 8" sounds like it's almost as deep from the Finny masters here. I dont look forward to ever running the 14" DD , i'd rather just try to get the machine tuned good (even in Hot ground like last week) with the 14" mono when feasible or the 8" for tight cubby holes or beach & whatever makes sense. I spoke with Mira & She'll be looking for my 8" to show up (Thanks).
On the Recon ~ I saw a pic once next to a Finny with 8" & I think maybe it's like a 9" or so on the Recon , but of course I could be mistaken asi waasnt looking at them in that respect. Couple of guys that have em' here would know. Talk soon - Ken
