This pic indicates how hot the 250 is in all metal..

Being the proud owner of an ACE 250,I too, am amazed at it's great signal response is various settings. There is a state park close to my residence and is the hunting grounds for many detectorists in the area. Due to fine weather conditions I was able to go there the week of Christmas and New Years. I covered the same grounds that myself and others hunted many times, The last day out I used only the pinpointing segment and was still finding clad, gold, and silver. That would be my main setting for searching except for one thing. With arthritis in my hands, it's very difficult to keep the pinpointing button pressed for a length of time. If GARRETT comes out with a mod on this unit with a pinpoint trigger, that would be my next purchase. GET DIRTY
I have dug MANY deep targets that my Ace would not even ding ONCE in normal hunting in the "all-metal" "program",...and then in pinpoint it is CLEAR that a target is there. Dig down...viola!...nice old deep coin.
Are you saying that you hunt in the pinpoint mode? As a CXIII user I can hunt in the non-motion all metal mode, which is essentially the same as the ACE's pinpoint mode.

I do use this feature if I get a deep, but inconsistant signal to see if it is a false reading.

HERE IS ANOTHER TIP FOR THOSE WHO CLAIM THAT THEY LOSE DEPTH IN PINPOINT MODE: In Pinpoint mode, try raising the coil a few inches. For some odd reason, I have found that I am able to get MORE depth by lifting the coil about 4 inches off the ground in pinpoint mode.

Yes, I am saying that I hunt quite often in pinpoint mode, only releasing the button to try and get an ID on the target.
It's not always possible to do tis however because of the Ace's limited settings it's not always possible to get it to hold a stable threshold tone when pinpoint is depressed.

contact Khouse who is posting on this thread.
He is offering a pinpoint mod for the Ace that adds a Whites trigger. You can either pull back for momentary pinpoint, or push the trigger forward and it'll lock on.

Here's a link to his thread where you can see the trigger and also his wireless headphone mod
