We used to toss those John Wayne bars to the Vietnamese kids. They tossed them back at us. even starving kids wouldn't touch that candy .

My favorite were eggs and ham chopped. While in Viet Nam, we transported a lot of the Republic of Korea troops, ROK's, "rocks" we called them, on our landing craft. One of them wanted to trade me C-rations... I gave him a C-ration unit of ham and eggs chopped (I hoarded them); he gave me a Korean C-rations unit that I could not read. I opened up the main can, and there was a small, whole pinkish orange squid about 6" long that looked raw, sitting on top of some rotten looking leaves that where floating in a nasty looking liquid... I didn't eat it, and felt I had gotten rooked for my ham and eggs... or maybe ROK-ed would be a better word.

so I hear. I haven't tried everyone's rations out there...but I have exchanged rations with an American, and a Brit. Needless to say, that only happened once...and won't happen again *haha* I wasn't fond of the U.S. rations...but WOW do the Brits have terrible chow!!!

Those guys beg for our rations when we are around *haha*

We of course have some terrible meals as well...but some great ones too :)
I sure miss Spaghetti and meatballs though :(
