I did say in the original post that it was from the local high school. I apologize for that as it was just an assumption since the high school is half a mile down the road from the park where I found it. The ring is worn too bad to see what school it is actually from. I can make out the year and there are two initials but I can only truly make out one of them.
 
Here on p'cola beach you better detect it the moment it falls off the finger because it's headed for hard pan 10' down.
My first detector the very first thing I hunted/found was a couple's wedding bands and engagement rings.
Just bought the detector at radio shack, something 2000,a bounty hunter. I crested the dune at the beach ball water tower and a couple where raking with a sand flea rake looking for their rings,long story short I found them and machine crapped out and I returned it within 2 hours of purchase.
Went straight to a dealer and bought a cz20 in 1993,still my favorite machine....
