This Just In, NEL Sharpshooter

Try to see if you can Super Tune it when you get outside. Super tuning will add alot of depth and your kicking out small nails with the least Disc..I'm interested in the NEL Sharpshooter for relics.

If your asking me about super tuning a Tejon you can't! the Vaquero you can.

I'm not sure about the Cortes?

Ok Mark, we no longer want to know. Not interested! Nor do we want to know anything more about the supposed new machine :tesoro: is building...nope...we just don't care.:clapping:

Hey, "LittleJohn" Did you notice the depth in my air test on that nickel? this is key to the Tejon\Vaquero and Low Conductors in that range, the higher frequency hits better on Gold than it does on copper and silver, which is the main reason I wanted something like the Tejon or the Vaquero in the first place.
I know that the Tejon will find silver, but I'm getting the idea that its got a little better taste for gold.
So, with the little NEL Sharpshooter I'm planning on it for some jewelry hunting and get the coins as they come up.

I'm going to try and setup one of my other machines for the chance of some places where there may be some deeper silver.
Then, maybe my Omega with the 11" DD coil for quick clad stabbing.

Here in a little bit I'm going to try some more air testing with the Tejon and add a few more targets to it and I'll try to also add some results with another coil I just got, its the Tesoro 10"x 12" Widescan.
So, stay tuned. (If I can find a gold ring I'll try it also)

Mark, was it you that posted the nice air test chart? I looked for it, wanted to compare with my air test, but could not find. I was surprised at your results on a nickel, and thought maybe there was an error, thanks for clearing that up, look forward to your additional air tests. Thanks.

You probably saw my brothers (WV62) spreadsheet results, he's been collecting test results from the both of us and logging them down. He is also following this topic, so, if anybody would ask I'm sure he would be glad to post it here or anywhere else on the forum.
He is at present adding in the results for my NEL Sharpshooter coil on the Tejon.

Mark

Well I retested my results in the house, but this time nobody else was here so I shut down a lot of stuff in the house to do these test,
No WIFI,
No Furnace,
No florescent light,
No Computers,
I also added a bunch of items to the test.

Tejon,
NEL Sharpshooter coil 5.5"x 9.5" Widescan
Sensitivity = 9
Discrimination = the F in Foil
Rechargeable Batteries.
Repeatable, diggable signals. no one way hits,, didn't count any swing three times hits only once either.

First set,
US Clad Quarter =___9.5"
US Clad Dime =_____8.5"
US Nickel =________10.5"
US Copper Penny =__8.5"

Second Set,
US Silver Quarter =_8.5"
US Silver Dime =___8"

Third Set,
Canadian Quarter =_9.5"
Canadian Nickel =__9"
Canadian Dime =___8"
All the Canadian coins would stick to a magnet!

Forth Set,
Mans 10K gold wedding ring =_____10.5" (compare this to the low conductive US Nickel results, I rechecked this a couple of times)
Woman's small gold loop earring =__7" (closed loop)
Woman's small gold loop earring =__4.5" (latch opened all the way, but the same earring)

I found this on the gold earring,
ZZ .585 on both the wire latch and the loop. The only other thing on the earring was a "O" with a tiny R inside.

Below is a picture of all the items used in this test.

Thanks for sharing.:) It looks like that combination is going to be great for gold jewelry.

Here is some close ups of the gold items I used.

The Tejon with the NEL Sharpshooter coil and its headlight and the basic arrangement used to the air test.

Hey, "Tabman" I'm also going to do some testing with the 10"x 12" Widescan coil pretty soon as well.

Very nice info Mark, Do you think it hits on gold a little better due to it's frequency? That would be my guess....well that and the fact that that machine is just...an awesome machine. Sure looks familiar.... Thanks for the test results, and keep that old girl dancin in the dirt!

I'm pretty sure its the higher frequency that's tuned better for the conductive range of Gold and the Nickels.

Here is what we have so far.

Thanks Ron, that is a nice neat handy chart. With that information, a guy knows what coil to use for likely targets. Looking at your chart, I am thinking the 5x10 W.S. would be a good choice for beach hunting (which I would have never given any thought to) Thanks.

Mark, I like your flashlight mounted on your Tejon, which light and were did you find the mount? Thanks.

That little light is the coolest thing! it works great! and seeing how your the first to show any real interest it the light if you will PM me your mailing address I will send you a set of the clips for the mount (it takes two mounted together to make one mount).

Below is a link to a topic I started up about the headlight, I now have the same light setup on all my detectors!

Mark that is very kind offer thanks, I have a small streamlight aaa flashlight, I am going to dig around in my workshop and see what I can come up with. Great idea, and will be handy, thanks.

Below is some pictures of just the clips, they have two small screw holes in them and I used two small machine screws with taps to join the together.
I don't know what us this could be used on but on Crown forklifts these mount to the lower side of the dash panel to snap it in place.

I'm sure something us could be fabricated to do the same thing, but I have a few extra and I did find another small bag of them at work, which were I work they are closing it down so, they're not going to need them.

The little flashlight had a recessed section in the middle that I had to put several wraps of tape around to size it up to fit the clip right, the clips fit the shaft on the detector just fine.

Mark

Thanks Mark, I have not had time to dig anything up yet, those clips look handy. Sorry to hear your your work is closing down, I hope that does not cause a hardship for your family.

Well this should conclude my air test for the Tejon, my brother will be able to plug these numbers into his chart and update it again.
