This is unbelievable, Never in my detecting years,

Have you "air tested" it? I never air test anything but one day I did it on this machine and I was really surprised at the difference in "depth" on the T2 with a nickle when dialing the sens between 60 and 85 or 90. I didn't measure exactly but it was 5 or 6 inches more with the higher sens... check it out. I bet you can run yours at 80/85 because I can and the iron content here is extreme. It is a little noisy but not over the top until I get over 85 in most areas. That is with an iron reading of 1.0%... So run it as high as you can and try the air test with the nickle.

Hello jbow,

The problem we have here in California is the mineralization, Some areas worse than others. The trashy iron sites we can deal with but the areas with extremely poor mineralization are the sites we fear the most because now we have two things going against us "both poor mineralization and sites laced with iron," A very very bad combo.

Luckily, I live in the San Joaquin valley surrounded with the coastal and mountain range on both sides of the valley. In this valley the mineralization is not as bad as the upper levels, But still enough to not allow a high sensitivity with the T-2 or other top end detectors. So we settle with about 60-75% maximum sensitivity at most, Up in the higher elevation our sensitivity drops to about 30-50% sens.

Which is the reason we don't dig coins as deep as the east coast hunters,
HH, Paul
