Thinking of buying an Ace 250

Probably the best machine for the price category, around 200 bucks. I own some high end detectors that don't hunt much. The ACE is just fun and lightweight - and it finds good stuff!

I know it can be frustrating. I had problems in the beginning too, but now I have it down and pinpoint better than with my MXT and thats really saying something! :detecting:
Depending on how deep the target is, the target will usually be about an inch 1/2 in front of that notch , at least for me.

I believe that was an option when you first registered? I may be mistaken, but just contact
the webmaster or whoever oversee's this forum and you can probably

thanks again to everyone, I found a dealer who has the Ace 250 for $199 INCLUDING SHIPPING. Thanks to the member who PM'd me that info! I will order in a week or 2 HOPEFULLY!!!
I still believe pinpointing is difficult with a 250. I do not understand why the coil does not pinpoint in the center where the half circle is located. I do not use the 250 very much because of my difficulty pinpointing. I have a 550 that is so accurate that i can use the brass probe and hit the coin every time. It looks like i used a backhoe when i dig using the 250.
Practice more, you'll get it. I find the pinpoint right on.
thanks for all the replys, is there a way to set it up so I am emailed when someone replies? I am on many other forums and they all email me when I get a reply. I did not see it in the options anywhere?
When you post or reply, just check the box under the subject line that says Follow Topic. That will set up the email for replys.

I thought the video was on Garrett.com but I can't find it.
Does anyone know where it's at? Maybe I am mistaken and saw it
at a different website.:confused::shrug:

And also

If you are not the topic starter or do not want to reply but still want to get email notification when the topic your reading get replies, then at the top of the page is a link "Follow Topic" which will add the topic that you are currently reading to your follow topic reply notification list.

If there are topic you wish to remove from follow topic reply notification list, just click on your control center link and on the left hand side is a menu "Show Followed Topics" click on that link then you will be given a list of all the topic you have added to your follow topic reply notification list and from there you can remove any topic from the list you wish to stop receiving follow topic reply notification on.

Enjoy

The Ace is a great machine. I've had mine for just under a year I have found all kinds of neat coins, rings, toy cars several nice buttons, and other goodies. I have went behind people with other machines and pulled out several items when they could not find them. You will enjoy the Ace and the son will have trouble getting his time on the Ace 250!!!!!!!!!!

I keep reading replies that say "for the money" or "as a good starter machine" concerning the Ace 250, and I couldn't agree more. But am I the only one that thinks it's a GREAT machine REGARDLESS of the cost? I currently own seven detectors manufactured by three different companies, and unless I'm water detecting the Ace 250 is the first one I grab every time. The ONLY thing I'd like to see added to the Ace 250 is a volume control. That's it. Everywhere I've been with it everything else about the machine has worked perfectly. The balance is superb. The battery life is fine, and using just 4 AA's instead of twice that many, or C-cells or 9v's, is great. It breaks down small enough to fit in a medium duffel bag along with all the other gear I take with me. Most of all, it simply WORKS as advertised if not better. Simple tactile buttons, not having to scroll through a dozen useless modes or setup menus, rock solid performance and backed by one of the best companies in the business. It's the only detector that I've ever owned that I have been so impressed with that I bought a second one as a backup. And THEN we get to the price, which at under $220 anywhere is just incredible.
It's not JUST "a good starter machine" or "a good machine for the price". Pay more than double that for anything else and see if you're any happier.
