Thinking about getting my first tesoro

Each coil will have to be ground balanced, not a big deal if you understand manual ground balancing. I always ground balance mine to a neutral setting where the Threshold does not change when bobbing the coil over a clean, metal free spot of ground.

Finer resolution , more precise ground balance tuning over 1 turn and not as confusing as with a 10 turn pot.
I----------I I turn rotation of pot, ground balance can be hit or miss or hard to maintain.
I----------------------------------------I 3 3/4 turns tuning is spread out further
I-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I 10 turn spreads tuning out even further.

Thanks for all the replies and knowledge. I decided to try out a lightly used Tesoro Golden µMAX. I think it will be a best fit for what I am currently looking for. I realize it is not a super deep machine, but depth is not my goal. I opted to get the CSC for it as well.
My second choice was going to be the Outlaw with 3 coils. I missed a heck of a deal on that package from Backwoods. Looks like I could've saved a few hundred bucks on a slightly used unit.
Who knows, I may eventually end up with more than one Tesoro in my arsenal. I am happy that the 5 pin coils interchange between all the µMAX models.

The Golden with the CSC may or may NOT have functional GB when you try it out. Mike Hillis, one guy who has had lots of experience with this combo had to open up his Golden to adjust the little GB trimmer inside to get it to GB. The Outlaw on the other hand has a manual ground balance, it just does not have the tones, for my types of hunting with it, I prefer a mono tone audio.

Most of Tesoro's models with manual GB provide the optimum ability to fine-tune the performance with any coil change. I had too many issues with a cool of Golden Sabre's and using three different coils when visiting different mineralized locations due to a poor GB setting.

I hope the CSC works out for me with this machine. I did realize that there is no manual GB on the Golden, but I figured I can still use the other coils on it if I have to. If it does not, I will likely go with my second choice (Outlaw) and have a full line of coils to interchange. The Golden does come with the 8x9 OOR, so I will not have to make another major purchase right away to make the Golden usable.

can call for Ground Balance adjustment to make a good match between the coil and detector circuitry. Changing each coil, even of the same size and type, can cause a shift in the GB setting that needs to be corrected. You re-balance, or re-calibrate, the detector's GB adjustment to match the coil's influence on the overall circuitry operation. Changing to a different search coil could result in a GB that is more positive, or more negative that a previous GB setting, thus the coil is not 'calibrated' or 'ground balanced' as a functional part of the circuitry.

Anyone know what the 3 3/4 turn GB to allow quick swap of coils is all about on the outlaw[
If you have a model with adjustable (manual) GB (externally) then it is a very qick 5 seconds to tweak a proper, functional GB.

had a golden the coins I was hunting with it fell right on the tone brake guess you could look at that 2 ways but I didn't care for it.

not to say it wont work for you I am in a different country so different coins.

tune it to the cleansweep and get the Outlaw anyway  and no I do not work for Tesoro and don't want too LOL

Good luck with your decision! I still say the Silver would be your best bet for csc, but maybe everyone's different.

I have a golden and use the CSC on it. The ground balance is okay for the CSC. Maybe has to do with my soil in SC. Love the combo on ball fields. Got gold with mine the first time out. Good luck with yours.

I can say with the Bandido I can get a 5-6" quarter ground balanced at max sense.

Honestly though, I just cover lots of ground quickly, basically only dig banging loud targets.

Also, I'm not sure if the Golden has an all metal mode like the Bandido.. but, listen to different objects in all metal and you will be able to sort out good from bad fairly quickly. One of the best things I read in my Bandido manual. Also, if you have the Golden manual, read it lol.

Me too but I am looking for a Tejon I have seen a couple tests were this unit went extremely deep it was very impressive for a VLF , a LOBO Super track would also work like a champ for me !!!
