Thinking about a White's TDI for the beach, thoughts, anyone use one Or a DF better choice

Thinking about a another PI for the beach, been watching the used DF's coming up for sale lately and waiting for a slightly used 600 dollar range one to popup, But............. I also have been reading up on the Minelab SD's. GPX's and now I see a TDI up for a great price on the classified, Reading the new TDI Forum, Dankowski NASA Tom, I'm thinking a WaterProof TDI {Uses the DF 12inch Coil/WP} ,............. Just like Max's Frankensplorer...One that would be chest mounted, and most hunting would be High tide line/Dry Sand to Hip Deep Salt & fresh water .....................I see a few use them, at the beachs..So any thoughts, Idea's and why did you choice the TDI over the DF with the DF being total waterproof? And what kind of hunting do you do with it on the beach, your finds..chains, ear rings that would differ from the DF........................Thanks for the Info, Joe

The TDI has a much longer and harder learning curve, you will really have to work with it, lots of different settings. The DF is easy and goes very deep. I vote for the DF. Also the TDI to me is pretty heavy if it's not hip or chest mounted. I also kept hitting and turning the knobs with my arms when digging when chest mounted. so I had to constantly keep and eye on my setting to make sure I didn't bump one off my settings. It is a very good machine, but the size and amount of knobs and switches to fool with made me sell mine. Good luck, Gene

Hi OldBeechnut I bought the surfmaster DF not long ago ,I had my doubts at first when I got it untill I worked out how to use it ...Deepest detector I've ever used and very stable ...easy to use and Incredible depth

I've seen Whites DFX's but have no knowledge of "DF's'". What is the brand ?...thanks

DF dual freqency water detector put out by Whites.

I have had both still have the tdi pro it goes deeper than the dual field but water proofing it will take a large box did mine and have to wear it back pack style. If I was going in the water a lot I would go with the DF if I was going to hu t the beach more the TDI would be my choice. It goes deeper has more power and has more adjustments as to what you can do. Both you will have to dig a ton of beer caps.
