Hi John,
What device would you recommend for locating a platinum ring in about 2 feet of soft snow (not in the ground) that we can narrow down to a 3 meter radius?
I lost a ring in a secluded area yesterday, and couldn't find it after i felt it fall off my finger, but I know exactly where it should be (approximately).
I just need to know where to dig!

Sea Hunter MKll:garrett::detecting:

Let us know how it turns out. Good luck.

Hi jimmy,
Are you recommending this particular because it is waterproof?
I probably won't be getting the detector wet in this search, but if it is because it has detection-related (not durability-related) qualities that will help in snow, that would be useful to know.

I was out last sunday and probably got half your amount of clad. Good hunt.

Actually, because it is the deepest seeking Garrett that I have used and I've used several. It uses "pulse induction" technology which is deeper than any VLF machine, however there is no discrimination, so you have to dig all trash targets to get deep items. I see that you are getting the Ace 250? That is a great machine and should be able to find the lost ring. Best of luck to you.

Found it within 10 minutes with a Garrett 250 and no headphones...

The platinum ring gave the same signal as junk usually does.

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE HELP!

I think I have found a new hobby!!!

I have two material possessions on this planet that I care about, and the ring I found was one of them.
I felt like I had lost a piece of myself when it slipped off of my finger, but finding it felt sooooooooooo good.

:detecting:

Alright!:clapping:Totally awesome!:please:So glad to see that you found it!:detecting:WTG!:thumbup:Congrats!:cheers:Hey, welcome to the hobby!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

n/t

Because it is a PI and if the ring is down two feet ,i don't know of any other detector that will read that deep. Like john said, it may not have dropped that deep yet, so try what you have first and if that doesn't work then go to the PI. that's what i would do.
