The V3 comes with training

This is why you have to buy the V3 face to face from a dealer. Tell the dealer you expect him to teach you how to use this beast. He is getting paid for this..............it is called making a profit. If your dealer will not show you anything except the door after taking your money, you have the wrong dealer. White's made this policy with your best interests in mind..........TAKE advantage of it and repeat as often as necessary until you feel comfortable with the V. This machine is the most revolutionary metal detector I have ever used, and I have used many of the best, so trust me here. The V3 is an awesome detector.

I unfortunately was showing my dealer features when I purchased mine, I had watched all of the videos before going :-(

Larry that would be nice BUT, most of the dealers just had a learning shop on the V3 this past weekend so I've been told. So actually they don't know any more than any one of us would. KC

Larry..like the previous posts, I also had no help from my dealer. I'm not 100% certain they knew any more than I did. As a matter of fact, I paid and they handed me the Vision in a box and said "good luck". Good bit of info I'd say. But like the others, I'm learning it as I go, reading a lot of posts here and fiddling with the settings. Getting fairly good results on the beach so far but I still have a ways to go. Jim

Same here in my area....They have no idea how to operate......I ended up telling them from what I read.

"Whites made this policy" I don't know what policy that you are talking about. I have 3 dealers within 50 miles of me and 2 of them have not even ordered one yet. One said maybe in a month. I asked the other if he had the 1.0 or 1.1 version and he said "HUH". Again what policy did Whites make?. The one that ordered one, it was just because he had it sold and knew nothing about it when it arrived for the customer. Not blaming the dealers but they ALL cannot help with the Vision..This is sort of concerning as they seem a little complex in the operation of it......JMHO

That the V3 has to be sold face to face..............no mail orders.

It sounds like White's might have to tighten up a little bit on the training of the dealers a little bit too.

I called all three as was willing to go there. Use to drive to kenny wrays at 100 miles one way. Face to face was not the issue. They had no idea.. You should call them and ask questions and see what the heck I am talking about. Whites needs to TEACH DEALERS on the Vision as they talked about when the TDI came out...JMHO

to teach every purchaser how to fully use the V3!!! Nobody's even put much time in on this beast. The best we can hope for is a detailed series of instructional DVD's maybe whole collection of them.........this is a complex detector. Lot's of Whites dealers don't even have one...let alone have experience with one. Tis is not how the world "should be" it is simply how the world "is" !!!!

Randy Smith from Treasure Electronics the Midwest distributor of Whites had a seminar last Sunday. There were maybe 12 Whites dealers there. We all went over the V3 and TDI. It was a 4 hour class. We received certificates for each machine. I have a better idea of how to set the machines up now. But that doesn't mean we all know every little detail and tricks to use on the V3 and TDI.
This really comes from users in the field trying different things. We received the now available manual for the V3 too. The menu is as easy as a cell phone. Pretty much you would find all the setting in about an hour on your own. Plus while in any area of the settings if you flip the toggle forward a help menu comes up for each setting. Pretty nice! I will be receiving one in a couple of weeks for stock. Of course I'm going to try it out for myself. Then sell it as a demo unit. The V3 felt lighter than the MXT. The TDI is one bad azz machine too. I was surprised at how balanced and really easy it is to use. If I was making a living digging up deep nuggets this would be what I would use. Plus it can be used for deep searching high conductors also.

Thanks for you input khouse. I had heard from a guy that there were some workshops this weekend for Dealers. Glad to hear it.
And as davidtn said it would be even nicer to have a paid workshop for folks to go to and learn even more. Hands on for me
is a heck of a lot better in remembering for me than a manual or DVD. But I'll be very happy to get both. HH all. Been sick for most of 2 weeks
lately but think that the manual and DVD might help me get a lot better:heh: :) KC

i called our local dealer which happens to be a pawn shop that has sold whites machines for 20 years or so. the guy that is over the metal detectors did not have a clue what i was talking about when i asked him if they were going to get any of the new whites spectra machines in. i had to do my best to explain what i knew about the new machines that i have learned from reading on this great forum. so in a way i taught him and if thats the case i feel very sorry for the guy because that would be like the blind leading the blind. he called back in 2 days and said they were not going to stock any of them at all and could only order them from whites and he wouldnt be able to offer any help if i did order one. so there you have it. if i do order one i will just have to read and reread the manual and then read the help topics on here. its nice to have a forum like you have here as there are so many that have a great deal of knowledge to give. thanks to all of you for your time and hopefully someday you will reap some kind of reward for helping dummies like me. have a good day and happy hunting.

In the good old days we would see a detector in the back of a magazine. Usually buying it blind so to speak. Then trying to figure the machine out in the field. Now us users are so far ahead with all the great info. Plus downloading manuals and watching the videos before we buy. I don't know how we researched anything without the internet.

Sadly, many White's dealers are aging and inactive in the hobby now, yet hang on to their dealership for the occasional order sale, which is fine, I just wouldn't pay full price and there is a lot of room to negotiate a better price.

So many dealers do it as a sideline (and that is understandable). I'm with you ...they should make more latitude in the final price. Guess I'm spoiled in having a truly remarkable dealer close to me. They do set you up with classes, specials, freebies and full and fast service... warranty or not and sometimes (said sometimes) bought from them or not. Once you buy a Whites ...the relationship is just beginning and from someone that has your back, like that, means........... buying local. Guess that's why they are so successful.

Larry, I guess the problem I may run into, is this. What if my dealer is not educated in the V3? Then what if I tell him that I feel he should lower the price as a result of not being able to demonstrate it properly to me? Then what if he says he will NOT lower the price? I'm stuck then!!! I can't go else where. I will be forced to pay full price or not get a machine???? That's not right. White's should make some arrangement that I can get my machine anywhere in my state or draw a circle around my area (say 50 mile radius) so I can get the training I am paying for. I will get a V3, but I don't think I will pay someone who has no idea of how it operates. It's not fair to the other dealers that took the time to get to know this machine, while some dealers just get maximum profit for no work. I think this will become an issue for White's sooner or later. It will delay me getting one. I probably will get a slightly used one from someone who thought they wanted a machine with this technology, but later decided it was too much for them. Thank God for the transferable warrantee. Anybody from White's care to tell us if there is something in place for that type of situation??? Thanks, cause this one is really bugging me. You can see from some of the other responses that there are a number of less educated dealers out there. Not saying they ain't good people, just less passionate then some of us are.
