The two best coinshooting machines?

The dual frequency DFX in Correlate mode rejects trash extremely well. It compares the target in both frequencies and if they don't match up to a "good" target, it rejects it. Not 100% foolproof, but it will greatly reduce most trash signals.

How similar is it to the SovereignGt? It also nulls on iron.

Thanks,

J

I have several compass machines 77b magnum 94 liberty the thingabout the 77b is that it will see through iron and hit the target underneath.

I picked up an X 100 about a year ago and was/am impressed. It spanked a Fisher Coinstrike in iron trash and had better ID. The TR mode is great in areas that have too much garbage to effectively swing (target masking). The only real negative is the weight and wristbreaker design. I got around this, to some extent, by converting it to an S-rod with the control box underarm (a la White's). The next mod would be a remote battery pack, probably connected through the charging port. ...Willy.

one of the new tesoros with the 5.75 coil is the ticket. tejon, cibola, or vaquero. if you must have target id - i would go with DFX and 5.3 coil.

I hardly ever take the 5.75 off it. As I said above, I bought a used Cortes to try. I do like a TID for this kind of hunting but I agree about the Tejon, it does a good job on everything. I am also going to try one of the new Silver uMax machines. It sound's like a killer little machine for a great price. I also use an F75 but in some places it is too noisy for me.

Thanks for the input!

Julien

I wonder how much difference it will be between the Cortes and Silver uMax. I think they are both 10kHz.
I found it difficult to pull the 5.75 coil off the Tejon and Cibola.
I took the F-75 out for a run this morning. I probably spent half of my time playing with settings over targets. It's really my first outing with it since I bought it. I don't have time on it so right now I have mixed opinions. I did dig a few coins, couple odd ball coins, a few tabs (yippee), and a horseshoe . I don't know what it is with the horseshoes, I get a few of them every year for the last few years. I don't see/hear anyone else around here digging horseshoes. Then again, I don't know why I hang the old rusty shoes here and there in the backyard. I guess I dig them because - well - I don't know...
Well I was going to run the F-75 again this evening, but temps went up higher than they forecast for the area.

I dig horseshoes too.

The Tejon is 17.2 - 17.6 khz

Ron: You are right. The big push is for the latest thing going. I still like my XLT for cruising and the Explorer for the deeper finds.(But I still like my Mark 1& Big Bud)

Julien,

Did you check with your "neighbor" about the ID Edge's performance in your ground? Using some rejection and or the notches it is quiet and still sees co-located targets very well.

Who? I must have forgotten... I have a good forgetter.

Thanks,

I have found most of my coins with a White's 6000 Di Pro. Thats because I used it for several years and back in the 80s when I bought it, it was like years ahead in technology compared to my previous machines. The large analog meter was accurate ID for coin denominations in the US and the depth scale was incredible. It worked so well for me that I gave away my other machines and didn't leave me one for back-up. That machine traveled with me a few places during some of my military time traveling. I had the stock and the 4 inch coil for it.
I later added a Compass machine and that was another good machine but I lost that one probably within 6 months.
Detecting back then was very good and the machine paid for itself many times over. I put allot of hours using the 6000 Di Pro.
I just let the machine go this year (recently) and now I'm kicking myself for it.
With the machines that I have now, I really cant say which two are the best coin shooters. Most are less than a year old. I also didn't relic hunt back when I started detecting. Jewelery finds were more common for me back then also.
Nowadays my finds are mostly sorry, but I really enjoy just getting out detecting. Seems like I'm getting into a kick of replacing all my machines and trying to find a half dozen or so that will carry me a few more years of detecting. Just this year I went from 11 machines down to a half dozen. Now it don't feel right and I think I should add a few more machines. Can't help it. It's useless...

just try to find a xl-pro,and you will be all set again!..good luck!
