The Tesoro Cortes Goes Deep :tesoro: :usaflag:

make sure your digging your zinc range, when hunting those soccer fields, or all active sports fields, as the Large heavy set Rings, all fall in the zinc range, those are the big payday $$$$$ finds

Thanks Tabman, I have looked at the Cortes befor and have never see one or played with one. Might try and find a used one and give it a try. Flintstone

Tabman and I differ in the opinions on the SUM mode. I have found this useless. If it would stay in SUM mode I might try hunting in this mode but it is spring loaded. Like my Cortes but see no real use for SUM.

You couldn't hunt in the SUM mode anyway. It averages each sweep into one VDI number. The Cortes is an amazing detector.

I realize that but it would be interesting to see how hunting by Tones alone would work.

Granted, the GB is only in the all metal mode on the Cortes, but the display works in all metal. At least you have the option of tuning the C if you run into problem ground whereas the DeLeon is truly preset, with two pots, one for each mode as I understand it and that requires opening the box and even if you now just how to tweak it, the next ground change may be different. I've had a D for several years now and it has worked very well in the soil I usually hunt with good ID and good depth. I haven't used it in heavier mineralization as I have several manual ground balance detectors for those locations, but I generally grab the D or the C for parks, fair grounds, and play fields.

Excellent point!. And it works quite well at identifying targets in the all metal mode.

Hard to hunt in all metal in my spots but I can see a use.

Does the Cortes have a Notch Width nob control on it like the Golden Umax has? I know it has the switch so you can go from narrow or to wide.
Thanks for any info on this, Daniel.
