If you are recovering wheaties and buffalos, silver is still there.
Still a good sign… I detected a very small city park a few years ago that gave up lots of wheats too.. after finding 100, I quit counting and I found silver there too. There may be a few silver left but my brother and i have been there a few times over the years and have dug an unreal amount of wheaties
Maybe the people back in the day were poor? Being a school they might not of needed silver money,Pennie’s might of done it back thenThere may be a few silver left but my brother and i have been there a few times over the years and have dug an unreal amount of wheaties

Pretty interesting info... thanks! In 1957 I was in first grade. For morning break you could preorder a small bottle of milk.
White milk was 2 cents and chocolate 3 cents.
In the spring, the cheap icecream truck came around for lunch and popsicles were a nickel and ice cream bars 7 cents. The good humor truck charged a dime if he showed up.
Just though I would mention this for a clue of what kind of change the kids might carry on a daily basis at school.
