The problem with notching out pull tabs...

...you may miss one of these! With a 37 VDI, you will miss this one in Coin mode for sure! I dug it earlier today (between storms) at an old farm field. This is only the third one I have ever dug (and the second this year). Unfortunately there is no safe way to clean these, so it is what it is!

The other one pictured is the one dug back in the spring.

Flying eagle's...... I hope to find one someday.

I found a hundred year old marching band head broach/pin and tried using simple household hydrogen peroxide heated to around 140 in the microwave. It worked awesome. My buddy found a silver plated 1915 San Francisco Pan Pacific token in my yard today, with his v3. I used the peroxide bath on it and it worked great, it was silver over brass and the plate was all but gone in ost places. Down around 10" right next to some buried power lines. He said the secret to his success is running in mixed mode and he referred to all your success with it.

Nice find Neil........ Maybe you could post the settings that you are using to find the deep small ones in trashy areas.

I don't see them in Illinois. Rob

as i read all these forums over the past couple years, they almost all point back to the same ole adage,,, DIG IT ALL unless youre sure its iron then i guess you still nevr know. haha great find neil but you hit the nail right on the head..those are some awesome finds . good hunting

That is a penny? I have one also a great coin..so 37 vdi wow..if I am relic hunting I dig it all even if I can only last a couple of hours and masking can change a VDI I see that in coin spills...great find.
I found mine at SC and it is in great shape...

Here in the U.K. if you notch out ring pulls you will miss the medieval silver coins we have here as they are so thin. This also goes for the best single freq. to use is which is 22.5 for the same reason.

I've observed something interesting regarding 22.5. With the 5" Excelerator coil I have to run it to hit the hammereds next to iron, the 3 frequency won't even pick it up. But with the 6X10 coil the 3 frequency picks it up, however not as good as the 22.5, but still digable. Still usable info for those hunting jewelery.
