The Legend in high mineral soils

I hunted with the Legend on one of my red dirt relic sites and it did very well in handling the minerals & iron , finding targets @ 4-6" deep behind the Anfibio Multi, Vista X & Tarsacci MDT 8000.
Field mode, 4 tone, M2 , first TB @ 7. Sensitivity 20-22. I am very pleased with the machine so far.

Is finding targets 4 to 6 inches deep considered good in Red dirt ?…..I was visiting a friend in Georgia where there was Red dirt….He was running an xp orx, and I was running a Tesoro Vaquero….Niether one of us had problems hitting targets 6 inches and deeper…..I didn’t think that we were doing anything exceptional….

It all depends on the dirt & targets probably more than anything. I just try to keep in mind it effects how the detector performs.

I've hit a couple places where getting targets 3 inches deep with the Vaquero (actually was a ground balance modified Cibola; essentially the same thing) was good. Other places where it would get faint but repeatable hits on a quarter at 11 inches. As JCR TX says, it depends. Some red dirt is much worse than others.

This sounds like “any” targets in “any” soil just depends ……This to me is not saying anything, because it “depends”…….Finding really tough, highly mineralized, hard to punch through, soil is now a constant…..Running different detectors through soil like this trying to hit targets and checking the outcome, makes for a more definitive test…more of a constant scenario as opposed to a scenario that depends

Hot soil is in the mind of the beholder unless your machine has a mineralization meter. Color of dirt is not a measure.

Agree that color of dirt is not a good measure. Even with beep and dig detectors with no meters but with ground balance control you can make a pretty good assessment of mineralization by where it ground balances; even without a meter.

Where I am at it goes from 2 bar to 4 bar in a few feet. It might have to do with the moving of dirt when building goes on . The bull dosers bring up the minerals that are there when moving dirt to build new places. When in the woods that has not been disturbed it is mellow and two bar . You have all the fall from the trees over many years and is good black dirt . Hard to dig because it is a mesh of roots but things don't sink that far . 6 to 8 inches max. Easily picked up by any decent vlf. When you get in the fields it all changes . Since it has been plowed and turned over many times it is much more challenging. That is what I don't like about the eqx no mineralization meter. Could they add one maybe. Just a few thoughts.

I am very glad to see that NM intends to add a Mineralization meter to The Legend as part of an upcoming update.
