THE Compadre

The Compadre is a great little detector. Lots of folks have found some nice stuff with them over the years. A very simple and effective machine.

Happy Hunting,

I love my Compadres. I couldn't resist the urge to mess with them and did some mods. You can look at my other posts to see what I did. If I could go back I would probably not change anything. The Compadre is great as is. I prefer the smaller 5.75"coil. I have a 7" and dont notice a real difference.

I did some tests with the 3 minelabs and the mx5 inside with emi a silver ring a big one and a pairing knife laying on the ring only detector to hit it north south and easy west with a solid hit both ways was the 7" compadre ctx was 2nd mx5 3rd etrac 4th explorer 5th all with same size or smaller coils on except the ctx had 11" coil.

I know this isn't in ground but sure stunned me will do a vid if I get a chance.

granted the compadre falls down on depth over the minelabs but for the price dam fine detector.

My compadres are my favorite machines in many regards.
On namely being when new people want to try out the sport.
I just give them a quick overview of how the disc circuit works with some coins, and they're digging up treasure.
I've tried to start them on my other units but even when I GB them and set everything up, all the knobs just seem to be daunting to them.
Best for newbie, as well as seasoned detectorists for the money.
Love my compadres

see the little white bit stickin out the front its the end of the gold assassin something about the 12 kHz that is just hot on gold :hot:

They're great machines for tot-lots and getting up close to steel poles. Also the perfect beginner machine for the new detectorista. I bought two of 'em, and gave 'em to my son and one of the daughters. If I'm only doing tot-lots, my Cutlass microMAX does just fine with a 5.75" coil on it, so that's what I use.
For the price, the Compadre is great in parks.

BTW ~ sure glad the park Gestapo aren't an issue around here... The local sherrifs just walk by, smile and nod, on their way to the rest room. Thought the Lesche in the big rivet Wilson sheathe may raise some brows..nuthin'. Even the park maintenance guys don't seem to mind my digging; at least my holes are filled, unlike all the gopher and bunny digs.
