That 1838 large cent I found last week... I cleaned it...

The large cent was in pretty cruddy condition. I washed it with soap and water and a toothbrush; all that did was get the dirt off, it still looked cruddy. I then soaked it in a mixture of olive oil and castor oil for a week, then scrubbed it with a toothbrush... nothing. OK, time to get serious. Got me a can of Brasso, and a small brass brush, went to work on it. Took about 45 minutes to do the front and the back... it didn't come off easy. It looked just like the large cent on the left when I started. I can see no wear or scratches left by the brass brush, even with 10x magnifiers. Hey, if the US Mint don't find you handsome, at least they'll find ya handy.
