Hi Tom,

Yup... time to head out. You'd like it up here I am sure.

There is something very nice about being unplugged for sure. No TV, no phones, no internet, no news... nothing but what the day has to bring in my own little valley. It brings life into perfect focus, and reminds me how little import in my day to day life events hundreds or thousands of miles away really have. Sometimes a person is better off not knowing!

Happy Hunting!!

Hey Dan: I am still a little confused about the CZ3D. I had one for a while but my thoughts are if you hunt in older areas that are still being used they are still littered with pulltabs. If you hunt in areas where is little or no trash I am going to dig everything above iron no matter which detector I am using. Been detecting for 28 years and own or have owned most detectors at one time or another. Thanks for reading my rambling....Jack

the nugget map you posted and my mouth is watering! Has anyone tried fighting the brush up Nevada Gulch? From the aerial shot it looks like the dredge worked its way up there at one time.

No detector is perfect and certainly one drawback of the CZ3D along with the normal mode being in the salt mode..But for those guys and gals that have the real old spots could produce. I still feel the analog was a more tank like unit and the digital provided us with a superior notching system. I am in an area that is basically the same way having seen use years ago and still being used today which does hamper our efforts in the old area expanded mode...Guess thats why over the years have provided us with several CZ choices...

the CZ-3D's response to more than the normal amount of trash items being detected when in the enhanced mode? I just use the salt mode when I encounter a site with lots of trash. The only issue I have with my CZ-3D is problems with nickels...does appear to not I.D. properly at times when in the enhanced mode. Some nickels will I.D. with the mid tone rather than the high tone.

The other day, when I encountered a nickel reading in the mid tone rather than the high tone, I compared the CZ-3D with my White's XL Pro. The nickel also read as a tab on my XL Pro which indicated to me that there is nothing wrong with my CZ-3D sounding off in the mid tone on occasion. Evidently, the composition of the metal in some nickels may be slightly different...who knows why.

As far as finding more trash items when using the enhanced mode, you will possibly have the same problem with any metal detector. The CZ-3D was made to move more old coins into the high tone, thus you will naturally have a situation where more trash items will also move into the high tone. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

In a real old area enhanced mode may just get you more goodies, but if too much newer trash just switch modes...Unfortunately lots of 100 year old parks are still in use today and that is the problem..Find that old area that hasn't been used in years and your CZ3D will produce without a doubt..Thats the way it was designed simple toggle switch makes your unit two units in one...could someone explain to me why the problems this is not rocket science or brain surgery..just a simple flip of a toggle....
