Thank Heaven Fisher Sold!

I always value the opinions of Bill Ladd, Mr Bill and others but I always felt that Steve credibility was impeccable.

Hi,

I guess I came off pretty strong, but for the opposite reasons one might assume. Fisher as a brand is really near and dear to my heart. I respect the opinions of others, but I simply think they have been on the wrong track for years, and I have not been happy about it. When you see someone you like going astray and can seemingly do nothing about it, a certain amount of frustrations sets in.

If I did not care about Fisher... well, I would not care!

But my post was more about my feelings on what I perceive as marketing and product errors, and so not really appropriate to this forum. Sorry about that!

Steve Herschbach

& sorry I was probably overly sarcastic in my responce. Again, only in defense of the new Fisher's which I use & promote. Like I said before, we DO agree that this can only help Fisher. Heck, we may be lucky enough to see FRL become a power once again...lets hope. HH, Bill

What I do expect to happen is that new warranties will be reduced to 5 years.

Perhaps they will but it is costing me nearly $700 to repair my CZ 20. It wasn't run over by a Mack truck. something suddenly went wrong and it would not ground balance but still sort of worked. Such a painful repair experience will make me think about purchasing another Fisher. Of cours, it was my call to go ahead and fix it as I did not want to go without that CZ 20-8. It has been my main machine for a couple years.

dirty looks, cast out in a blizzard and threatened to be sent over to Iraq in a box with no airholes. Well, maybe a tad exagerated but I felt the same about the 3d. But I am still a big Fisher fan.

can be stinkers. It seems to me that the people doing the final calibration are not doing as good a job as they had previously. My best CZ's were 2 older (white rod) models and they handled iron superbly. The last 3 I used were newer, probably less than 2 years old and they stunk in iron! Have not used a 3D yet, but the more experienced multi brand users pretty much agree it is a very good detector.

Don't count out the ID Edge for hunting iron. If it works in your ground you may find that there are no current TID, VDI models from ANY other manufacturer than can compete. ;)

Just cuz one person "thinks" a detector is too noisy does not mean it doesn't work well in iron either. Set the MXXXT up to find stuff in iron and they are just as noisy as the 1200 Fishers!!

Just my humble opinion

Well I'll add my two cents into this...I've had Fishers as my last two detectors and they have out-performed any other detectors I've ever owned ....I've been THing since 1975 and I have a CZ-70 that I hunt with now...I've also had excellent service the only time that I had anything go wrong, (broken handle sent to me free of charge in two days)...I use my detector on the beach and in the field and it outperforms any others that happen to be in the same area...like the old saying goes...you just have to know how to use your equipment...nuff said

They have one that works well. :)

I have owned good-working Fisher's, and if they had a lighter, better-balanced CZ-5 I would probably get one. All of the earlier CZ's I owned (a couple of 5's and the converted 6a, had great calibration and worked quite well. They were not as bad in iron trash as Fisher's 1200 series models.

The CZ7a & CZ 7a Pro I had were 'OK' but I didn't feel they were quite as good as the CZ 5's I've owned. Maybe things will change now since that 4" penny I mentioned in my reply to Kelly is also findable and generally ID's with my Titan 3000 XD. :D

The CZ-3D put such a bad taste in my mouth that even if I were given one and it was custom calibrated, I don't think I would like it. Good thing there are plenty of other makes and models to choose from. :)

that at this point, the CZ-5 was a better metal detector. I have not owned the CZ-3D very long and will admit that the problem may be me, and not the CZ-3D, but my problem involves finding nickels and is very similar to what Mtdoramike has experienced...just not consistant.

Some nickels will I.D. as a pulltab, others correctly in the high tone. The new buffalo nickel would register as a tab most of the time, and sometimes would not register at all. I have found out that it is extremely "critical" that you properly ground balance the CZ-3D.

I will continue testing and learning how to use this CZ-3D, but if I come across a mint CZ-5 you can bet that I will buy it and sell the CZ-3D. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

Take me with you!!!!!

What is with it this year..you would think its the middle of winter and everyone has cabin fever or something the way the forums have been lately. ;)

Lucky dog! a month in the bush without forums.

Seems like some do not realize the concept of the CZ3D to use one mode for older areas and one for newer areas...Too hard for me to explain in a sentence or two so talk to Fisher if you have any questions. Guess I am from the old school and prefer older Fisher CZ's, but I see where Fisher is coing from with the CZ3D and many old area hunters do extremely well with them. Yes I believe depending how they are tuned two Fisher buddies using the same model one may be a tad hotter..Any specific questions fire away and the forum will try to answer your questions as many experienced CZ user freqent the forum.
