Testing New DetectorPro PI "Pistol Probe"

Sorry about the above-I goofed it up. Just wanted to say-glad to see the Pistol Probe info listed here.--It can apply to Fisher detectors (as well as other detectors).--It can be an aid and an added enjoyment to our fine hobby no matter what the name of the detector your swinging. -------Del

Hey, Bill. Nice report. Is the volume high enough to hear with headphones on?

Thanks,

Jimmyk in Missouri

Bill the One big thing i see is that looking at the pic with it on your hip looks just like a pistol which in my neck of the woods(around detroit mi) you might get shot real fast by the local p.d as you know guns in a school area is a big no no,so someone seeing you pull it out might think its a real pistol, It should be a different color then black(red, white, orange ect. but thank you for the write up it sounds like a really good probe

Yeah, you are right in that in looks like a pistol in a holster. It would be wise to make it a different color or you will get special looks from concerned people or law enforcement.

Bill (or anyone else that can answer as well), you said about a 6" depth on coins is WOW !! This very deep PI Pistol Probe looks good for all types of hunting, relic, beach, etc. even for gold nugget detectors and prospectors. (Is the new DetectorPro PI "Pistol Probe" sensitive the full length of the shaft or only on the tip ??)

I wonder what the depth on coin sized objects is on the new Garrett Pro-Pointer ?? (The same question would be, is it sensitive the full length of the shaft or only on the tip ??)

Treasure Products web site says the following below (under the "Questions" tab at the top of the page) for their PI probes for comparison to the PI Pistol Probe. (I cannot put links to Treasure Products PI Vibras here as they are blocked as they are not a Findmall sponsor so I used Kellyco for reference instead so you can read info on them). The Pistol Probe PI looks much deeper than these PI probes:

Q7. At what distance will the Vibra-Probe 570 detect a target?
A7. Detection depth on a coin sized target is up to 2"...
http://www.kellycodetectors.com/vibra/vibra_570.htm

Q9. At what distance will the Vibra-Tector 730TM detect a target?
A9. Detection depth on a coin sized target is up to 3"...
http://www.kellycodetectors.com/vibra/vibra_730.htm

Hope this helps.

Thanks and yes Bill I understand and hear you, BUT what I mean is, is it sensitive for detection on the WHOLE length of the shaft or just on the tip ??

David---Mine reads on a dime approximately half way up the shaft---I'm not talking about depth--but reading on the dime up the length of the shaft.--That's what you meant, isn't it?---What's neat about the probe is that it will even read on a dime "on edge" (and do a GOOD job of it).------Del

YES IT IS AND THANKS! The Pistol Probe is super deep but the Pro-Pointer has a scraper on the shaft to knock down piles but does it have more length of sensitivity up the length shaft and not just at the tip, I wonder which one go get. I talked to a dealer today and I cannot decide whether to buy the Pistol Probe or the Garrett Pro-Pointer, humm, still undecided better make up my mind soon ??

David---Get 'em both--use them for a bit--test them side by side--decide which one you like the best and most meets your needs--then sell the other one. I know that requires a few $$ but that's exactly what I'm planning on doing (I already have the Pistol Probe).--There is pros & cons on them.--The Pistol Probe will get you FAR better depth if thats what you want.--I don't care for tone on either one of them.--I'd rather use the LED light on the Pistol Probe or the vibrator on the Pro Pointer--As far as targets reading up some length on the shaft--they are both going to do that (to an extent)--the Sunray inlines does to.--To me, readings up on the shaft versus readings just at the tip is a double edged sword.--I will say though--with the experience I've had with different probes-the "cheapies" were the ones that read only off the tip and you had to pratically touch the target to get a reading.--I may get some flak with this statement but that's just the way I see it (JMHO)--I don't really see a need for that "scaper" on the Pro-Pointer (maybe it will serve to re-inforce the shaft)--and I do wish the Pistol Probe was a little smaller---but I think either one of them are going to be very good probes.---GET 'EM BOTH!! --------Del

THANKS AGAIN !! The Garrett Pro-Pointer (12 kHz) gets about 2" on a coins(one person said 3") sized and the UniProbe Pistol Probe (PI) up to 6". BIG DIFFERENCE!

The Vibra Probe and Tector (PI) gets 2" to 3" as well. So the Pistol Probe is the winner !!! Probably THE deepest and best probe on the market. That is where my money is going. But Del said get both !

Wondering on update on the detectorpro pistol pointer.. Its been a few months, who has it now?? and Who hates it?? and Who loves it?? Can you adujst the debth?

Jen

Don't forget the uniprobe a lot safer to use at parks just as deep and I think works better more bang for the money.
