DetetcorPro has introduced a brand new probe with their PI technology stuffed into a hand-held probe. I'm normally not a probe user & got sick of the onboard probes adding extra weight & extra cables that stick out & get snagged on every branch as 90% of my sites are in the woods....But, I'm really getting to like this one. I'm working on a 10 min. YouTube video of this probe in the field. But, in the mean time I have taken some photo's to hopefully show you what it's all about.....

This is the probe. It fits into the hand well. At first I thought it seemed a tad wide when I opened the box.....
But, then I was in for a big surprise....

A door flipped open. Uniquely hidden inside this compartment are 3 knobs...
1) A power knob to change pitch or go to a silent search mode with lights instead of sound.
2) A frequency control to help overcome any interference that might crop up....
3) A threshold control to tune & adjust the sensitivity level on the probe....
The lights are seen at the top .....It's really like a mini pluse detector in a tiny package.

It comes with a nice holster that you can put on your belt which makes it nice & handy at your side whenever you choose to use it....
I did use it at this park almost every signal. What's really cool is that since it's a mini-detector, once I got a signal with the big DD coil....I then got the probe & put it right on the ground like this next picture....By adjusting the threshold right before the breaking point like you would with a detector, it was picking up copper pennies that read on the T2 meter as 6".....
Nickels screamed even better than that. So, in a nice lawn or park you know right where to go. So, you shouldn't damage a coin or tear up a lawn & lose permission....

For those that don't want/need 6" on a penny, just drop the thresh down for less depth. Next....with the probe pointing out right where to dig...my plugs were twice as small as usual & also alot less deep. I just peel the grass flap back first, & then stick the PistolProbe in the shallow hole to find the exact direction of the target (middle of plug, what sidewall, etc.) My plugs at this park were so small once stomped down you wouldn't even know I was there, which is how it should be........

Some have said getting 6" on a coin is too much depth as they are usted to the older probes that you needed to actually touch the object. But, I found with those "touch" probes that I was poking around, or raking though the dirt for sometimes several min. This probe you can just wave over the dug dirt & know right where to go. In wooded sites I tend to dig big holes....often that means 2-3 piles of dirt left outside the hole that I would wave the coil over. Once I found what "pile" held the item then I would have to hold up dirt in my hand & wave it by the coil. (Folks have seen this on my video's). A tiny BB, or button sometimes took several min. to find (& alot of film to edit) Now my recovery is alot faster, so I think I may have this on my belt from now on.
Other useful things I have done with the "PistolProbe" are scanning over the dug soil of a trash pit to pluck out buttons. Also, the PI power allows cellar hole users to scan the walls of the foundations in search of caches. I'm sure it would be great in the beach sand to quickly stick into the sand to find targets as well.....
