Lord help me! I just pulled the trigger yet again and ordered myself another Tesoro. A Bandido II uMax.

From what I've read it sounds like a &X&X of a detector. I can't wait to give it swing.:detecting:

Tab. I wish I new you were looking. lol. I have a Bandido (not the 2) Just the Bandido. and a Silver saber umax with the 3x18 cleansweep. considering parting with both .lol

We all need more tesoro detectors. in our inventory. lol:super:

The bandito2 is what I call a great nitch detector , it has a great ability to find those thin gold ladies rings that most other detectors sound off as trash.

You gotta add that to your signature! haha
Congrats man! You should open up a Tesoro museum :)

How is the Bandito II different than current detectors in Tesor's line?

This is some info I found to explain the differences. LINK

I sure can't wait till my Tesoro Bandido II uMax gets here so I can experience first hand what the differences are.

Thanks! A really interesting read. I forget all the great info that is sitting in the old messages. Please keep us posted on how the Bandido II uMax works out.

FedEx dropped off my Tesoro Bandido II uMax around around an hour ago. It's so purrrrrty and the tone coming out of it sounds so wonderful to my ears.:)

It's time to do so testing with it, but I have to take the cat to the vet first.

It is in really good physical condition. If it works like it looks, you really got a nice one. Love the dude with the sombrero on the sides.
Have fun and happy 4th.

Tabman.......you snagged a good one:thumbup:

I think you will be amazed by the Bandido's sensitivity to small gold, even with the stock 8 inch coil. Then compare it to the Compadre's sensitivity on the same piece of small gold.

tabman----That's one nice looking unit!!-----You're gonna love that machine.---Congrats on the purchase!-------------Del

Well I finally got to take the Bandido out for its first test run today. I got in about 3 hours of detecting. It was really hot and the ground was like cement. I set the discrimination on "2", the sensitivity on "10" and the threshold at the 3:00 o'clock position and started swinging. I found 26 quarters, 31 dimes, 29 nickels and 18 pennies. At first I was thumbing the discrimination knob before I dug to see how well the Bandido's discrimination worked. It was spot on. After that I started digging all good beeps without checking. The Bandido II uMax hits super hard on really small targets and nickels. If small gold jewelry is around it will have no trouble at all finding it. Pinpointing in the discrimination mode is precise and lighting fast. The tone that the Bandido makes is really pleasing to the ear. Near the end of the test run, I found a bent rusty nail (12p) in the same hole with a quarter. I threw the nail on the ground and ran the coil over it. The Bandido didn't make a sound. I then turned the discrimination from "2" to "0" and the rusty bent nail gave out a very slight crackling sound. Then I remembered reading that Monte wrote about the Bandido having 120 degree discrimination and would discriminate out a nail at a "0" discrimination setting. I wished that I had used "0" discrimination setting during the test run. I'll do that next time. At any rate, I tested the Bandido before I left the house with a really small thin 14k ring to see where it would discriminate out. It discriminated out just past "3". No nails, smooth running and can still detect really small gold jewelry. Now that's really amazing. It doesn't get much better than that!

I took the Tesoro Bandido II uMax out for another test run today. I really like this detector! I set the discrimination at "0", the threshold at the 3 o'clock position and the sensitivity at "10". I found some more coins (61), including a bunch of nickels (17). The ground was so hard and dry that I quit digging the deep signals. I was doing my very best to find some gold jewelry, but all I could come up with today is a small 92.5 silver ring. It was only about 2 inches deep. A few months back I found another one just like it, but it was much larger. I just can't believe how hard the Bandido hits on nickels and gold rings. I never found this many nickels before. Not even close!

The stock 8 inch brown coil is a fine coil for general searching, it covers ground well and is as deep as most 8 inch coils, The out of production white 7 inch solid coil is better in the trash, and about as deep as the 8 inch brown one. Monte prefered the out of production (standard on first Bandido and Pantera) thin white 8 inch coil as he felt it was lighter in weight as was a bit deeper, I have both and can tell no difference between the two.

Thanks Hombre. I have a spare 9 x 8 web coil and a 7 inch coil that's on my Eldorado that I can use, but I really like using the 8 inch doughnut coil. The weight is just fine and I like seeing the ground over the target when pin pointing. The hole makes finding the exact target location a lot easier.
