By ripped off, if you mean the detector headphone companies are charging more that they should? Definately not.
Designing, buying and selecting parts, research on all the detectors that could be hooked up to them, business expenses, licensing and taxes and shipping and advertising....... there is very little profit after all is done.
Maybe the China companies that sell pretty much disposable phones actually make the killing.
You want comfort, good sound and reliability. Buy what makes you enjoy the hobby just a little bit more.

Hey everyone I know I am needin a new pair of Headphones! Been usin same pair for over 10 years,,startin to hurt ears,and the cord is stretched so much it gets caught in my knee pads when I walk.. lol.. anyhow they have done me well. They are koss dual volume control pair,think I got em free with a order from a book company.

Not sure what I might get but comfort,and dual volume control is a must for me!
