Tejon at the Beach???? Questions???

I am thinking of heading to the coast this week and hunt some salt water beaches. This will be a first for me with any detector... Any tips?
I have a Tejon I have hunted with a few times on land... LOVE it. How would I set it for wet sand?
Thank you

Most single frequency VLF/IB machines are not the best choice for saltwater hunting due to falsing caused by capacitance effect, and the inability to handle the conductive salts well. The best you can do is lower the sensitivity and increase the discrimination to the point of having "the least" falsing possible. Alot depends also on the area you are hunting, and the underlying mineralization in the soil in addition to the wet salt problems. In the dry sand though, you shouldn't have much of a problem.

On the wet sand your just going to have to bite the bullet and up the discrimination to balance out the salt water effects.
Depending on black sand or not you should be able to run the machine fairly hot.
Don't bother with disrim. 2 as 1 will already be high, unless you want to try running 2 at a lower degree of discrimination. This could help with correct I.D. if your trying not to use your spade as the discriminator all the time.
