Took the GTI1500 out today ..its been a while
found about 3 or 4 coins then it started acting like
i was over the mother load....Belltones.then it bounced all over
Showed sizes b thru e

Moved to another spot and set it down to dig ( i attached by headphones)
and it still bounced around.. Did a reset DITTO:confused:

Came home changed batteries and took it out back
still bouncy but not quite as bad i even washed off the coil
and lower stem and cable:shrug:
Hopin it aint nutn serious....

advise is FOR SURE appreciated

Do an air test and check the coil for cracks. If that does OK then I would say the machine is OK. If not then call Garrett.

Give Garrett a call...could be a lot of things but to me seems like it may be a bad coil....know anyone with another coil as changing coils could tell you a lot..
 
Did you have a coil cover on that was pulled off when you cleaned it? Did you have a mobile phone on you that was switched on? It may have caused interference. How good were the battery contacts? A bad connection there can cause all sorts of grief.
