Tarnished wedding band

Jiminsandiego

New member
Hello all,
Just back from La Jolla shores San Diego. Got a small 18k band(yea) and also a mens wedding band that is tarnished. It's engraved Tim and a date (1996) and weighs 7.8 grams. Silver color and no other stamps. Could this be silver or ??
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. If it's silver I'll clean it up accordingly but don't want to mess it up if it's something else
Cheers all

It could be silver that is 18k GP gold plate and most of the plating wore off.

lower k gold will tarnish(its the metal mixed into it to make it10k,9k ect.. that tarnishes)there mixed with silver/copper. and other base metals i;ve found 10 k rings so black i thought thay were
