I will be at the rio grande river with the Minelab CTX 3030 soon. I will be doing testing on it there in and out of the water. I am open to suggestions and would gladly try any testing you guys might want to see. Please let me know. This should be a great test for it.

I still have a few left. Holler if your in the market for one! Be sure to mention this forum when you call! :thumbup:

Good luck Bart.

If you have a video camera try to get some footage of the screen during some target signals. (Playing with those new target trace features - if there is enough trash to do so).

As the gentleman said--"be careful" down there Bart.-----We have seen some strange (and a couple of terrible) things down there when we go there in the winter time.----Better to be safe than sorry.----------Del
 
Yes, I think you will need protection. I will come and provide needed protection, will only cost a plane ticket down and a few hours on the CTX for me while you rest!

Just don't want one of our dealers (or anyone) getting into something they can't get out of---and I ain't talkin about the Rio Grande. :tongue:
 
Good Luck! I live down here...and I DO NOT go near it! I work for a company that has quite a few wells along it...the gaugers have to go in pairs. There is alot of history all the way down it including a couple Civil War forts. If you come empty...shoot me an email.
 
Kieth is right, you are very close to a war zone which can and does spill over to our side. Go with a group of people if you can and stay on our side. Went across the border as a teenager but will never cross it again.
 
Bart, video of course. Showing the complete machine set-up before detecting. No camera cut-aways. Always showing screen while filming. No headphones, so audio can be heard. Why? Because someone will surely say the machine was fudged with if camera cuts away. You don't need that kind of grief.
These guy's aint kidding about the locale. It's dangerous. Be in a group for sure.....as for protection....thats up to the group. Just be legal about it.

Are you going to be along the Border in Texas, or up in NM or Colorado, along the northern part of the Rio Grande, where things should be somewhat safer? At any rate, Good Luck and let us know the results......
 
Bart I can not stress enough what everyone has said about hunting in South Texas around the Rio Grande.Be sure not to hunt down there alone and that really does not prevent things from happening. If it is the STX part of the Rio Grande I am sure (or hoping) that you will be with a local. Like Keith indicated above we have people also working on drilling rigs where we have had several incidents with people getting hurt badly. I know it's probably not what you will want to do but my suggestion is to check with the local Border Patrol, DPS, or Sherrifs office to check on recent activity in the area Of course they are probably going to tell you it's a bad idea and suggest you don't. I have a very good friend that works STX Border Patrol and works different sectors in the RGV. He is never far from any other agents and he is armed with a M-4 and a pistol. If you happen on people crossing the river get away.

Now that we know you will not be in harm's way or need a Marine escort, one last piece of advice. The Tex-Mex food is awesome...enjoy it....you lucky dog. But don't go crazy on the hot food (chili's) unless you are used to that kind of heat:) Nothing ruins a road trip faster than a volcano in your intestines. If it say's habenero chili, think twice....lol. Have fun Dude!!
