Taking the CZ6a to the beach

OK I am at the beach, the CZ dose grate in dry sand, but can,t do wet sand. I have tryed every thing to get it to GB. but it is so unstable i can,t use it there. Met the guy that wrote GOLD BENEATH THE WAVES, can,t remember his name, that's bad. but gave me alot of help, and said that alot of vlf detectors would not work here, very nice man. I will just hunt dry sand, more people there than in the water now anyway. Will let you all know what i find when i get home. I told wife i feel gold today anyway. Flintstone

What do you mean unstable, and did you try running in all metal ? Was the unit falsing a lot in discriminate mode ?

Also, I assume you had it in salt mode ?

Sometimes you cannot GB the 6a in the wet sand, and you can just run it in setting 5, but make sure your sensitivity is only in the 2-3 range.

It may just be that you can't run it there. Shoot, if Jim Brouwer ( Gold Beneath The Waves author), tells you the unit may not run as well as it should down there, he would know.

Hi Therover, I have used every setting i can use from salt to normal and sensitive from 10 t0 1 and 1 did quited it down some. Took the coil cover off so no sand could get in, try ed everything. If just would not quite down. Did find a nice ring on dry sand, not gold but gratified or some thing like that. Took it to a pawn shop they said it was about $200.00 ring. When i get home will try to post photo. Be home Sunday had a good time, next time i will bring something else to detect with. Thanks everyone for all the help. Flintstone

Can't keep from wondering if maybe the salt mode is not working right. True that a lot of VLF detectors don't work well at all over the wet salt; but a properly working CZ is normally outstanding over the wet salt. Doubt it would be interference if it ran OK over the dry but not over the wet.

Congrats on the ring! Looking forward to pictures.
Cheers,
tvr
