T2 version 6.5 software..What it really does.

Why one detector just seems to be "hotter" then another of the same model is but a guess, at least on my part, but we know that is sometimes the case. Elton has two 6.5 versions and one seems to be "hotter" then the other. Both 6.5 versions. Consequently, there simply might not be a difference between the 6.0 and 6.5 versions, just, for whatever reasons, the occasional one detector is or just appears to be "hotter" then another. From one day to the next, my Omega and F 75 LTD on occasion seem to light up targets better then they did the previous day. And, there are reasons why this sometimes does occur. Just my thoughts, anyway. HH jim tn

As my post alluded to, I think you are pretty correct. I'm still not sure if the 6.5 is a better coin shooter than the Omega, but my Omega did better on coins (finds and depth) than my T2 6.0. It just can't be a coincidence that after using my T2 for 3 YEARS the first weekend out with my Omega topped it!!!

I'm happy with my Omega as it runs quite compared to my 6.0, but then again I hear 6.5 is more stable. :ranting:

I don't understand though, wouldn't saying 6.5 is slightly deeper and more stable and better for coins be better for sales. I mean I wouldn't be mad having owned a 6.0 T2 as it's natural for later units to be better, so why not just say 6.5 is better as users seem to be finding that out. I would love to hear Dave J. on this.

Somethings fishy is going on...

I too think it would be nice if Dave Johnson would help us in this matter. Hector may be absolutely correct in what he says about the version number being tied to the LCD manufacturer's factory location. None of us really know for sure what First Texas is doing as far as version numbering is concerned.
On the other hand, there is so much anecdotal evidence from users that there are performance differences within the same model detector but different versions.
If what Hector at First Texas is saying about the LCD screens is correct, is it possible that newer model T2's had their software/hardware tweaked independent of the version numbering we see on our machines? Its really confusing, as users have posted seeing the following numbers as versions on their T2's.....6.0....6.5.....6.6....(see the forum post here titled "T2 Version" by Pulltab...Keith Southerns posting 6.6 version on stock T2)
The other question is, if two detectors are the same model and version number, yet one is "hotter" than the other, is there a quality control issue in the manufacturing process? These are all digital machines as far as I know and should basically be clones of each other in performance. I don't think these units have trimmer pots. The only variable I could see causing a performance "hotter" difference would be the coils not being tuned properly. So why the performance differences??
Or is it a case of one of the two same version number detectors got tweaked in software/hardware due to later manufacture, and the other didn't.
Sure would like if Dave J would address our questions here on the forum........
