T-Rex scoop...?

Just wondering how many here use the T Rex scoop; I see a lot of things I like about it but since I would get some other opinions. Just looking at the picture, I like the 1/4" holes, large bucket, changeable handle; looks rather robust too. I started to get one twice now... I just need a little more encouragement.

Thanks
John

John - I recently purchased one (Goldiggers) and like it for all the reasons you stated. I've tried several other scoops over the years (Sunspot, Diamond head, as well as a few steel and aluminum ones). I was going to try the Diablo but was growing old and gray waiting for it to be available so I went with the T-Rex and glad I did. Go for it.

John I have two. the first one i got was the 2nd model Ronnie made up. Ronnie then sent me over the newest scoop which he is now selling. the new one is thicker gauge metal and some other mods he did. Ever since I used the first one the t-rex is the only one i use now. I was using a RTG but that is put away now...Also I had the diablo in my hands on sunday and i am not wild about it. The bracket where the handle meets the basket and all the bolts and no welds is what im not wild about with the Diablo.

I have been torture testing Diablo prototypes since august of last year and they have been amazing to use and have held up very well.

There are many considerations to deal with when producing a new scoop for market.

Once the builder has addressed these perhaps Diablo will finally become another favorite in our hunting community.

Well, I bit the bullet; made my order online last night about 10:30 and got the shipping notice today at 10:15. Not bad turn around time. Hopefully not more that a week travel time... :)

Trex will be my next purchase for a scoop also I just ordered the Stavr Excroexcavator 2 on Sept 15th I am still waiting.... Tracking shows it is still in Ukrain sigh...

John,

I have been using the T-Rex since Ron got his first order on these new ones and I have done just about everything to make sure it is durable...I have stood on it, pryed it, pulled, tugged, just about everything except drive my car over it...I will not
buy another...I am that happy with it..I will say one thing....the 1/4 inche hole are really 5/16....I don't know if they are all like that or not, but with that said, I like the size of the holes.....just put a couple of small magnets in the bottom and I think
that you will love it.....

Good Luck,

eek

... came home this afternoon and there was a box on the front porch. As I got closer I was thinking "hmmmm, that's a little small..." It was something the wife ordered; oh well, just a few more days...

That was the main reason I got mine because of the small holes...

OK, UPS brought T-Rex today; went straight to Lowes Depot and got the handle, just need to install it. Hopefully planning a beach trip here in a few weeks or so, so I can give it a try out.

Also can someone explain to me who how to put a handle on this scoop? Where do I get the handle? Home Depot? How is it attached?

google gold digger metal detector for trex scoop and yes get a handle from the hardware store... Not too difficult the handle slides right in there nice and snug... GL HH

I don't remember off hand exactly which handle I used, but I believe it was for a shovel. I did cut a little off of it so it would give a tighter fit since T-Rex was not tapered the same as the handle.

Got T-Rex a little late in the season so have not used it for metal detecting; I did however have a chance to use it to search for shark teeth in an area known for those and it worked pretty golly darn good...

I decided to get the T-rex 9.5 and was able to use it today for the first time. I love it! I do wish the holes were a tad bigger though and it did tend to collect sand while dragging behind me which made it heavier but it was awesome digging with it. LOVE IT! I got the handle for 9 dollars at home depot and it was a perfect fit after only lightly sanding the end that fits into the scoop.
