swing speed

The D1 needs a somewhat faster speed for optimum performence but look like the D2 would need slower speed with its larger coils. What says ye?

Personally, I haven't noticed any difference between the two units regarding the optimum Reactivity settings. But I have only used the 9" coil on the D2. With either machine or any sized coil, you set it for your conditions. I think generally speaking you tend to use slower Reactivity settings with a larger coil because you probably aren't using it in trashy sites.

I must be the only person in the world that had better results with my 10" Etrac stock coil in trashy areas, thus bought the D2 with the big coil.

Even at a reactivity of 0, you will get better depth with a fast swing than with too slow a swing. Also, will get a tid on deep targets with a fast swing. Test it for yourself…..

In my opinion a faster sweep speed is a little deeper but doesn't separate as well. Swinging fast in an area where targets are few and far between is advantageous but in heavy trash, is somewhat counterproductive.

I've found that on the Deus if you hit a deep object with no VDI you can swing the coil furiously over the pinpoint and sometimes induce a VDI giving an idea of what the object might be.
