Survey Time! Just curious??????

1. How important was the number of currently available coils, when purchasing your X-Terra?
Did yours come with the stock 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz?
Not that importantandYES

2. How many coils do you have for your X-Terras?
All configurations but not all frequencies

3. If you were the owner of an X-30, X-50 or X-70 and also bought one of the new models.............

a. given the choice, would you have chosen a coil other than the 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz?
Yes

b. If so, which coil would you chose as the stock coil with your new X-Terra?
The 10" round DD in 7.5

4. If you were the owner of an X-30, X-50 or X-70 and have not purchased one of the new models..........

has receiving a duplicate stock 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz kept you from buying one?
Coil would not stop me. Machine is awesome. But, the new icons in place of words in the menu is for people that can't read:biggrin:

5. If you were buying your first X-Terra, having read the posts on this forum, which coil would you chose for the "stock" coil?
10" Round DD in 7.5

b. If it didn't come with a 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz, would you likely purchase that particular coil at a later date?
NO

Also, if I had a choice of any coil minelab could have constructed. I would get a DD elliptical in 7.5. Light, Easy to swing and works in most all hunting situations

1. I have the X Terra 70, and when I bought it, I must confess that having optional coils with different frequencies sounded interesting but was not a huge part of my considerations.
2. I now have: 9" 7.5 kHz; 9" 3 kHz: 10"x5" 18.75 kHz; 10.5" DD 7.5 kHz; and 6" Concentric 7.5 kHz.
3.a. Yes. b. 6" DD coil (and not just because its the one I dont have).
4. Yes...I did consider buying another X Terra, but went for another brand for variety and to save "duplication".
5. I haven't been using the 3kHz coil long enough to give a verdict as to whether I think it is a better all-round coil (no pun intended) than the 7.5kHz 9". If I only wanted one coil I would probably go for the 7.5 kHz at this stage.
b.. I'm not sure. I think for the type of hunting I normally do, then I probably would by the 7.5kHz 9" concentric....however, if I lived at or near the beach, I would probably go for the DD coils first.

Maybe I would try to swap out for anther coil with the dealer since I allready would have one...

I like the stock coil for allaround detecting.
b. If it didn't come with a 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz, would you likely purchase that particular coil at a later date?
If I did not allready own one yes.

Hi Randy.
1) As I bought the X-Terra just after they came out, no coils were available. Having the extra coils are important as it gives plenty of flexability.
2) I have 4 coils. The standard. Also the 5x10, the 10.5 DD, and the 6in concentric. the 10.5 and 6in were bought when I had the 30 and I bought the 5x10 when I bought the 70.
3) If it was my first X-Terra buy, I'd go with the current standard coil. When I bought the 70, I would have chosen the 5x10 as the standard as I wan't to use it for a bit of nuggett hunting. Now, I would probably go with the 9in 3kHz. That's a coil I may well buy down the track.
4)No. It's common sense for Minelab to use that coil as the general standard. Having options though would be neat.
5) Probably the 9in 3kHz.
5b) No.
Mick Evans.
