Since most companies these days are making DD coils as the main coil, looks like Tesoro is following suit....

What do you think about it being on the Old Eldorado Sven? Discrimination and depth? Would also try it on my Silver umax.
Cheers

Haven't tried one yet, won't unless the Caz comes out, then maybe not. I don't generally use large coils. rarely relic hunt, mostly coin and jewelry

Tesoro had DD called the wide scan for the Eldarado back in the 1980s. But it was smaller

Other than the silver Umax, are there any other depth tests out there? I'm going to call Tesoro tomorrow, and see the wait time.. If it looks like it is building, I'll bite the bullet and order one. Was thinking of an European detector with enough tricks to reach four figures. Maybe buy a back up Vaquero...

So if your using this new large double d coil.
Lets see what DEEP finds your making ????
I'm not knocking big coils....Just wonder if there is really that much deeper stuff we all are missing ??

There are several yards in town where the cellars were dug out and the soil tossed around the houses. One built in the pre 10 1800's gave up a large key from that period about 8 inches down. We all being dreamers might wonder, what else? I got a small silver ring at about the same depth. Vaquero found a barber dime ,some thing broken in silver, both close to the surface.. My Pro pointer found the ring way down. while looking for the missing piece. So, the European machine will double my "V's" air distance.. An extra two inches might make me cease wondering what am I missing. The 1802 large cent I found recently was at two inches. The other idea is that my coil could be imitating me and getting old. Does this happen? I have 32 acres I could grid. Most of the surface has been hit, but there are silver items left. The soil test on the silver dime at 8 inches in the ground..... My "V" hardly touches it in air. Going to try another air test tomorrow, the battery pack has been in three years, might be time for a change. Need to find out where the yard of an 1830's school has been, is being dumped.

The bullet has teeth marks on it.. I just purchased one from Larry at Big Valley Metal detectors. Should be here by Monday. Am starting the comparison tests. got new batteries to replace the 3 year olds.. Being a cheap skate, the bells sounded great? Spoke to Tom at Tesoro, may send my old Vaquero off to be checked and tuned this Winter.. Wondering if coils age. Will do comparative air tests cent, dime ,nickel , quarter, and half dollar. Small gold ring.... Then coins in the ground. With both coils. I may even find the $5.00 eagle in my vegetable garden. Forgot abut that one.. You want some variations, let me know.. By the way, I was impressed by both Tom, and Larry...

Lately there seems to be a trend in the hobby towards larger coils because a lot of detectorist thoughts are being consumed by depth. Those larger coils are great for cleaner areas and for covering large areas looking for past occupation spots but as a stock coil?? I think for the most part a lot of desirable targets today are being missed because of "target masking" rather than depth.

Wide-scan coils today seem to be popular with companies probably because they can deal with a wider range of ground conditions when units are shipped around the globe...just a thought.
