Sunray FZ1 probe

I use the fz1 probe and have read a few of the posts below.
I have used another probe that got very good distance of 2 inches or more .

I noticed that when ever I had to remove headphones to listen to a probe it was a real nuisance. I was able to set the probe to vibration and that was much better. Only thing was I had to operate on its own battery but I ended up loosing the probe.

The fz1 probe eliminated extra power supply , eliminates having to mess around removing headphones and gets plenty of range as you can adjust it from an inch or so to several inches.
I don't worry much about discrimination while using the probe to pinpoint a target although its available . Just being able to find a target in a deep hole or in the side of the hole and several inches away from the probe but being able to pinpoint it very accurately because of the small inch diam foot print of the probe coil. I actually when having a hard time on a difficult target go into the auto tune all metal mode and turn the sensitivity and volume all the way up. On my cz I get big time pinpoint distance that way. found a quarter close to 3 inches at an angle off the bottom and side of a hole that was already 11 inches deep and cleaned out of all loose dirt. The main reason for the probe is to go along with those deep holes I check out because of the fz12 coil I am enjoying now.

I have, and have had several other brands/models of probes and most available detectors. I'll sum up my experience with probes in one sentence. If Ralph builds a probe for a detector you own, particularly if the detector has tone ID, buy that Sunray probe!!!!!!!! Now I really like the performance and handling of the Pocket Probe and Uni-Probes, but for my tone ID detectors, I only run the Sunrays.

I worked another pre-1900 homesite today. Found 2 Mercs and a silver charm bracelet. 16 wheats and some clad. Got a lot more to do there yet. I used my FZ-1 for the 1st time today and while it works well, it's going to take some getting used to on my part. I'm used to a Vibraprobe and this thing is very sensitive on it's sides and that will takes some getting used to. I'm sure I will.
